We should have finished the job in the early hunt for Bin Ladin. Unfortunately, he has a big Saudi oil family, so Bush went for what he thought was an easier target.

You are right, my most esteemed friend. All of a sudden, OBL is going to come out of his hiding and the Bushies are going to say: "We got him". And the repukes are going to be elected to do the job of saving the world. Wow! That's big. And then, we are going to have the most productive and wonderful nation, full of jobs, no more unemployment, the war is going to end, the deficit is going to disappear. And we are going to live in paradise. Dreams....

Since the days of Christian Crusaders we have fought the Muslims from Spain to Mecca. Both have conquered lands but have not held them.

Shortchanging the use of reconnaissance drones and placing small platoons of troops out in open brutal terrain has been a mistake from the beginning in regards to Afghanistan. We have the technology. I cannot believe paying out thousands in death benefits offset an investment in drones. Drones in the area of my son's death and many others could have saved life KIA. Would they like to tell Gold Star Family Members the loss of a drone equates the loss of their loved one? Step it up with the technology we have. Beef up our numbers on the ground. Stop retreating from outposts established and gained with American blood, loss of life and sacrifice by our loved ones.

I regret any civilian life lost in Afghanistan during fall out from a bomb or attack. But recall other wars. Civilians were lost then too. It is tragic. We cannot fight this war worrying about terrorists who deliberately hide themselves among the innocent knowing our honor and dedication to "rules of engagement". The people seeking our help are also harboring those killing us. They do it out of fear and intimidation, but also sometimes for their political and personal gain.

The ugly issue of the drug trade is involved here, it's about oil, drugs, power and control between Afghanistan and Pakistan...so much more than what is seen with inital glance.

Let the chips fall where they may. Enough...be it drones, field artillery, bombs, finish this up and protect our troops there so they and their families don't suffer what myself and other Gold Star Families do. Hearing our top command indicate our hold failing in Afghanistan angers me. Then why did our sons and daughters die there? Why are our troops deployed there? When you send our troops in give them all the tools and manpower needed to complete the job.

Remember the Victory Gardens of wars gone by? Sugar, Gas rationing? Bring this self centered America up to speed as to the requirements needed to beat these beasts and wake them up to the fact they'll have to sacrifice something themselves. I am sick of upper command playing toy solider games with the life of those on the front line.

Nope. No bet!!

But I do think that McCain will claim credit for finding him just before the election and then tout his vast military experience and know-how. At this point he will use his military experience against an opponent who never served his country. Politicians! Roll Eyes

If they really wanted Bin Laden, they should start flying those drones over Saudi Arabia. Where else could he hide with the price on his head?

Here's another take on it...
If you knew where a drug dealer was, and he was the kingpin. And you could get inside his operation or at least close enough to get up to date information on his operation. What would you do?

Another way to look at...
Ever see a Wolf spider crawling on the floor? A female Wolf spider that has a hundred or so babies on her back?
Go ahead and smash her with your flip flop and see what happens to all the babies on.

If you don't know, please don't go smacking spiders in my house. Wink

The enemy has us where they want: Conservatives attack liberals on this site: Everyone attacks Californians: we all seem to fight each other, instead of what we should be doing.Meanwhile,
OSB has a ticket to ride any where he wants. Do you think anyone who turns him in would expect to live to collect the 25mil.

I am waiting for the October surprise that always seems to come during an election year, especially the Presidental ones. I concur with the writers who say "we let our eye get off the ball" which was Bin Laden, et al. We should have taken care of business in Afganistan and then taken care of issues elsewhere if necessary or needed. What we did do is stir up a hornets nest of long simmering interreligious factions just waiting to take it out on each other and us getting caught squarely in the middle.
I wish to offer my condolences to the Gold Star Mother who posted here as well as to ALL the Gold Star Mothers and Fathers through out our great land. I agree with her comments, "put this country on a war footing and get EVERYONE involved as we did in WWII."
God Bless and Protect our Troops and their Families, and God Bless all the families who lost loved ones on 9-11 and those who died on 9-11.

We did. We removed the Taliban from power, and started hunting for the cockroahes that scattered into Pakistan.
We then created a giant bug zapper for terrorists in wide open Iraq. It worked. Look how many of the maggots we squashed that would otherwise have slithered into the mountainous regions of Afghanistan.
Now we can turn MORE of our attention back to the Hunt for Yellow bin Laden!

Hey, I like yer handle, Tex! What part ot Texas? Dallas, here.

I'm not sure of the drift of your comment, but being an ex-flyboy mechanic, I say "Damn straight we can".

Ya know, in this country, if you harbour a fugitive, you suffer consequences. Now, I know that not all the civilian in Pakistan, Waziristan, or where ever are willing participants, and that's tragic. But enough of them are towhere I have difficulty conjouring up a great deal of sympathy.
Hopefully, they will come to a fork in the road and decide, like the Iraqis, that enough is enough, and start giving up these cowardly little maggots that hide behind burkhas and babies.
