I believe if not for the terrorist attacks down thru history and of late, we would not be on to such devises. Robots to do these types of things and other robots in the sky and land both. Astounding! With an Infantry mentality (Nam '68) I can understand any invention to help ground troops especially! The folks that pursue these inventions are the finest! Thank you very much! Even cooler is that Starship Trooper type technology is even closer to reality.

Sgt_Schlappy> I'm getting more of a 'MechWarrior vibe off that.

So a soldier humping a GAU like Jesse Ventura in Predator becomes possible... not to mention personal clime control devices and SCBAs for contaminated environments, even stealth coatings to defeat the naked eye and IR devices....

Just what is meant by a useful payload and what parameters are programmed into this "think for itself" robot?...
What if it becomes self aware and decides that it's creators are not worth keeping around?...

Robots ?! Pleaseeeee. All we have to do is airdrop our ex-wives into that war zone (without chutes) and it'll be over in an hour. The enemy will be broke, all their war material will be gone, the food supply will go back to the dark ages of beans and other scraps, transportation? Hahaha, forget it, they'll learn the local bus schedules. All the blood will be sucked from of their bodies---yep, ex-wives, that'll do it.

They don't even need the "Ex" variation to do all that... in fact, the non-ex models may even be WORSE! Eek
