Designed for soldiers by soldiers...yeah right. Designed by fobbits types and remfs for office work. Who in their right mind puts velcro all over a combat uniform? It makes so much noise every time you open a pocket it's ridiculous. |

Thank god the black combat boots are gone! I gladly give them up, in the middle of summer those boots would bake your feet and my feet love the tan boots! Sad to see the woodland go away, kinda wish the Army would take note of the Marines and have a set of ACU’s for woodland and desert. Has any one seen the ABU’s for the Air Force, digital tiger strip? Can the Navy get digital wave patterns in light blue?

yea i liked the vietnam jungle fatuges... with the slanted pockets.... i worn them the whole 17+years i played paintball.... i stood up along the tree line once during a game and they played right in front of me and no one on either side saw me.... i had my paintball rifle a tippman sl-68-2 behind me and just stood there,, my head was covered in berlap and was blended pretty well with the back ground (i was a sniper in paintball) and i was just standing there and no one saw me or anything and they played 20+yards in front of me about 50yards apart from each other... and i was right in the middle i crawled to the middle and just stood up... but i never did like the woodland cammo ... my col friend use to dress me up in different types of cammo and run me along tree line crawling and jumping up and down and different stuff it was fun tho.... |

I liked wearing my BDU's. I've heard nothing good about the ACU's. More expensive and wear out quickly.

yea my paintball career came to an bad end about 3-4 years ago.. i went to the outdoors field here and tried to play but my back said otherwise... in the second field game my back started to hurt and my goggles fogged up and i couldnt see anything and my back was hurting so i sat down in this half fort wall and shot anyone that came in front of me which was half my team and it sucked i was hurting in pain and couldnt see anything and wipped out half my team and a few of the other team but more of my own.... so the first one was ok i just crawed in high grass and my the time i made it to the pos i was going the round was over..but i was all hot and sweaty and mask started to fogg... then i tried to play some speed ball which i did better just stood behind a bunker and provided suppressive fire for some one to move up and get the flag but no one would so it was kind of boaring just wasting lots and lots of balls for 5mins... so on that day i quite i retired my paintball stuff and figured that my disability caused me to quite doing it.... i tried to get a part time job referring and running the local indoor paintball field but they said i would have to play for awhile and get to know them and stuff... so i hung around one day and they asked me to reff a game but i just couldnt keep up with the game like i use to be able to so i explained it apologize and left ...... kind of a sad end ive done some amazing stuff in paintball and met a lot of goood people and played with the best.... |

They are cheaply made. Had the crotch split on one pair of pants. The velcro doesn't stick anymore. If you get oil on them they are pretty much ruined. Also can't understand why the badges are pin on and not velcro like everything else. I do like the boots though.

I don’t care for the badges being pinned on either, I ripped two pair of pants getting them snagged on trees and fences, the woodlands didn’t rip as easy! The material is much lighter and the wind seems to go through them a lot easier too! |

Field uniforms have always been short on one thing or another.
The old cotton fatigues (old starchies) were hot and tore easily. Plus, the first shirt would jump in your stuff if they didn't have enough starch to stand by themselves. When wet, weighed a ton. Then the Vietnam cluster of ten or so various jungle style fatigues. Rip stop (not too bad), tiger striped, spotted, etc. The next generation was the wash and wear. Well, it would wash, but not wear well. Plus, it faded and stained terribly. Somewhere from the start, we also had the “TA-50” field clothing. Wool shirts and pants. Oversized battle fatigues, etc. Heavy, not warm enough, or too warm. Bulky and smelled like a wet dog when wet. And in some units, these were not an optional dress when going to the field. Sears had better field wear, but ya had better snot let the first shirt catch ya wearing it. Then the BDUs. Yep, Velcro and all and in two or three different styles. Hot as anything in warm weather. One of these days, the R & D geeks will finally come up with something that is functional, wears well, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to replace. Course, that would be the field grade uniform of the day. |

What Sr Officer/NCo works for this Company? The other uniform was just fine. Looks like the Money Trail is working again. No true trooper would have developed this. It's like the Yo-Yo who came up with the black beret. "It will make us look more appealing and help recruitment"! That's what I want fighting next to me; the person who enlisted because of the %^$&*^ hat! CSM Ruley

I wore the OD green uniform when I first enlisted and thought they were ok. The BDU I thought was a good uniform and it held up well in the field. The ACU seems to be not as durable and they should at least replace the velcro with subdued sewn on patches and badges. I still believe it was bulls**t to go to the black beret and screw over the Ranger tradition. These Men earned that beret. If the Army wanted Beret's then they should have gone with brown and left the black ones for the Rangers.

We were wearing ACU's for all of a week before I saw someone with creases in their pants and brown edge dressing on their boots. |

I liked the BDUs okay, the winters. The summers ripped too easy. I ruined a pair in one night doing that movement under fire course at Ft Benning. (only the army could find a field of red clay magically turned into 40 grit sandpaper). So where can I get 'em cheap? Or will they all be 'gifted' to the ANA?
