I checked out the Doonesbury cartoon just to see if things have changed, but no. I find this Canadian's depiction of the United States and our armed forces as insulting as ever. Why did Military.Com think this would be a good idea? LTC Sean Sullivan, Commander, 3-238th Aviation

Damn Colonel, it's a cartoon. I find that particular cartoon a great depiction of our troops coping with the insane "media" event that the Iraq war has become, mixed in with ever changing rules of engagement. You really believe your troops don't have this kind of sense of humor? Ever been an enlisted soldier trying to make sense of some of the conflicting garbage that rolls down from "higher headquarters"? I think it shines a great light on our troops dealing with BS on a daily basis "Ain't nuthin but a thing".

Lighten up Colonel. You can't laugh at yourself sometimes, then I'd sure as hell hate having my son or daughter serve under you. Plus, what does the cartoonist being a Canadian have to do with anything? Seems to me Canadians are our ally in Afghanistan and in the war on terror.

Seems like that particular cartoon was very much pro-troops. I've heard many people on this board whining about the ROE and civilians casualties being the inevitable results of war. How is this cartoons any different?

Just because he shares the name of a former Canadian PM doesn't make him Canadian, any more than being named Churchill automatically makes you British. He was born in NYC in 1948, and his family has been here for several generations. Cool

Garry Trudeau is smart, funny, sarcastic, brutally honest and an equal-opportunity offender ... just like most military people I know.

Find another target, Colonel, more worthy of bandwidth.
