The other issue is that the Physical Evaluation Boards have been issuing findings of Fit for duty to service members that clearly are unable to physically continue service. These members are then administratively separated by other means since they are not deployable. The service members are given an involuntary separation with a very tiny check in comparison to the check they would have received had they been found Unfit at 0% disability.

What disturbs me is some boe-hoe can sprain a finger or get their feelings hurt on the job and collect BIG bucks yet our Veterans don't get squat while injured on the job? I am gonna write my State and Federal Reps and give my .02 cents. Glad to hear that these Law Firms are helping out these Veterans.

See Senate Bill S.1606 being added to this year's Defense Authorization. It is titled as Dignified Treatment of Wounded Warriors Act.

15 days left to recess, will it make it?

Those lawyers are going to give the others a 'good' name.

Older veterans have a similar problem since the VA started a cost reduction program. Disabled vets must seek outside medical help or wait far, far to long for the VA and then usually only see a PA. A Case-in-point: The VA has tried all of their pain killers to no avail - -but a civilian Doctor gave the vet a RX for Lyrica which worked fine...but it is too EXPENSIVE for the VA to provide, and Medicare will only pay about 60%. So even 100% Disablity may not be enough !

I am 22 years old and when I was in the marine corps, I could get past the name calling and all that ****, but when I got discharged after being wounded it took the Department of Veterans affairs 2 years to process my application with 2 appeals to their decision, they said I was a 0% disability but yet I cannot even lift 5 pounds I appealed it and got a 20% disability but yet I can't even keep a job, I got canned from 4 jobs in the past year because I couldn't lift the weight. I was in martial arts for 14 years before I joined the corps I used to be able to bench press my own body weight, and thats pretty amazing for a woman thats 5ft 7in.
but thats not the point, I cannot keep a job because of this injury, and they tell me that I am only a 20% disability.

The law firms in article say the project is pro bono. They didn't say the litigation was pro bono. I would like to see how much the lawyers make of their first case.
