All I know is that I'll have to see it because it is named after one of my all-time favorite cancelled visionary series. But, drats, I gotta wait for the DVD or get it on demand.

Short of Spielberg they could not have picked a better director.

Hey jerk, you can't just throw out a half explained spoiler like that! Razz

I don't even need to see the movie to know that time travel will fix that, like they haven't reused THAT plot line enough!

I thought it was a great! I actually like the use of the time line being disrupted creating a new alternate universe. They can actually create new story lines. The old Star Trek was worn out. This is the way Star Trek was meant to be if they had the Technology when it first came out. The new Enterprise Actually looks like a star ship, the way future technology would look like. Not the 1960's plywood wall set and static displays.Wonder if they will try to make it int a tv series?

Is this legal?
I don't know,but its fun isn't?!

With the loss of the planet of Vulcan and almost all of its population, is the Federation strong enough to fend off the Borg and the Dominion in the future?

Good question. Don't know, I do know Spock and Kirk won't be going to vulcan to fight each other.
What did you do to make the Mods mad?

This is starfleet we're talking about. You know, the military organization that believes in redshirts over marines for security and depends on the Enterprise to defend earth every time because "It's the only ship in the Quadrant".

Or pull a bunch of midshipmen from the academy to staff a not-yet-starship because the rest of the fleet is dicking off somewhere.

Nor will they land on Vulcan in Star Trek 3 to save Spock.

Good point. Kinda like the parsec as a unit of speed comment made by Han Solo in Star Wars. If it made sense, it wouldnt be sci-fi.

Without giving away too much of the movie, ( sure glad I saw the movie BEFORE I opened this thread!)the premise of this Star Trek movie was to introduce it to a new generation and just like ST: TMP covered mostly special effects and character development. As for the new timeline, Leonard Nimoy's Spock pretty accurately explained it in his cameo. This is NOT your father's Star Trek.

There is one other thing to consider. If the older Spock tells the younger Spock in advance what will happen to Romulus, he could arrive earlier, stop the supernova and save Romulus, then Nero wont go back in time and disrupt the timeline, which would restore the timeline.

Or he could just kill Nero

Spock wouldnt kill him. They're already working on a sequel to this. The rumor is it will be similar to Star Trek 2, and involve Khan.
