I am a Vietnam Veteran, and I paid for my Son education. He graduated in 1995. Am I eligable to take this tax credit now?
I was married before I was discharged, and had a family, thus unable to take advantage of the G.I. bill. What programs are out there to help Veterans right now that want to go back to school?

I see you reside in Texas. If you enlisted in Texas, you can attend a state college or university tuition free under the Hazelwood Act. Check with your local VA office or the VA office on your local college campus. It is not a total ride because of other fees and charges, along with books and materials, but it is a very substantial benefit that cuts about 85% to 95% of the cost per semester. Also, it was just ruled that veterans did not have to be a Texas resident for a year to receive this benefit, just enlisted in Texas.

If you enlisted in another state, even if you are a native Texan, was stationed in Texas, and discharged in Texas, you are not eligible.
