I think the Veterans Upward Bound Program is a great opportunity for veterans. I had the pleasure to be enrolled in Los Angeles, which afforded me the pleasure of taking part in two academic summer programs - one in Great Falls, Montana (2003) and the other in Arcata, California (2004). Great professors and facilities made it a memorable event. I think the government should sponsor similar programs throughout the nation since the closest program is more than 200 miles away.

I went through the Veterans Upward Bound program at Humboldt State University in 1996. Four years later I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the same institution. Without their help and support I doubt I could have made the grade. The program closed down this past year for lack of enrollment. It was an excellent program and I would recommend that veterans who are interested in pursuing higher education contact their nearest V.U.B. office for help in obtaining higher education.
