Unless I missed something, this synopsis is not for the operation of the buoy depots but for the maintenance of buoys, something that is being done by contractors now. The only big change I see is the consolidation of three locations into one, but if they consolidate Mobile would be the logical choice due to the large skilled workforce at relatively low cost.
Bill, your old company had a job opening for same job you have but in Key West. The pay they were offering would have covered rent about four months of the year with nothing left over to live on.
I'm pretty sure Seaward Services has the KW contract. The Wage determanitation is the same for the East, west and Gulf Coast...go figure. I looked at a job down there a few years ago and decided against it due to housing costs.
I'm also pretty sure The buoy depots are all run by wage grade federal employees, thats the reason for the A-76 program. Thats also th take I get reading the whole solitication.
I think ATON is ripe for th picking to be contracted out. Theres a bunch of rfp's to rebuild shore based lights. The CG could turn whole boats over as the Navy and AF do to be run by companies. Its nothing new. The CG looks to be getting sucked up by the DHS.
Yep that's the company, I didn't want to name them. The position is a management position so wasn't subject to wage rate determination, an interpretation I did not agree with. Management position also meant no overtime pay.
Since a contractor took over military housing in KW, retirees can rent on base. There is one set of rent for civil service employees of the base and tenant commands, and another set of rents for all other eligible civilians including retirees.
