Has anybody heard anything on the skill base transfers? We had the master chief come in town and talk to us, and I asked him the question. Of course the answer I got was, "the diameter of the earth multiplied by pie, plus the distance the moon rotates around the sun in march is equal to 5 you know what I mean does that answer your question." Everyone there was like Ummmm sure. Anyways has anyone heard anything?

To a point, this already happens, but just to a point. I seriously doubt it will ever happen to a large degree as you are probably thinking. Technically, you could say that is how our system works. People with the skill sets expected of a YNC are transferred to YNC billets, BMCs skills to BMC billets. (But I know that's not what you meant).
Here are just SOME of the issues: 1. Advancements occur based on RATE openings, not rate sub-set-skills openings. No guaranteed that the 'next member' on the list possesses the sub-set-skill of the member causing the opening. 2. Not every member with a sub-set-skill desires to constrain themselves to that sub-set skill. 3. Service needs often dictatce that we don't limit people to sub-set-skills. (see #1) 4. Some sub-set-skills are less desirable or more ardous than others. If you set this up, then member obtaining those sub-set-skill early on would be stovepiped into those less desirable / more ardous jobs. |
