is there anyone out there with any experience on a 52 footer. mine came in the form of the 52305D out of the coast guard base on the Elizabeth River directly across from the old conventional navy submarine repaire base in portsmouth. In those days this base acted as a holding point for other functions. I spent more time at firefighting school run by the navyand weapons school at DAMNECK than on any particular unit. But for five weeks I was attached to the worst riding and the best experiential learning tool the military has ever known. for example;,When you are hanging from a man cranked a framemounted on a barrel bottomed boat scraping fish hawk **** off a day beacon, do not wave too girls in a passing ski boat. females are very curious people. and you could be beaten to death if they should answer your wave by a closer pass in their high speed LOOK AT ME devise. the rest of the crew were married so I volunteered to stand radio watch every night. We worked the Elizabeth, the York, and some of the aids in the checapeak bay, the only notable activity was the rescue of a cabin cruiser we came upon during a squal out in the chesapeak. we replaced and resheived her steering cable and she went on her way. Later we all got a letter for commundation from a retired Army Officer for our cordual assistance in his time need.I think this took place 64 I beleive
