This post is by no means intended to toot my own horn, but I've been getting a lot of calls on this and thought I should pass it on this board. The short story is we have been weight testing our 55' ANB crane according to the NEM even before I got to my unit. However, the first time we did when I reported, I realized that the crane that is in the NEM is NOT the same crane that every 55' ANB has in service. In fact the crane that is listed was taken out of service 13 years ago!! After bringing this to the attention of ELC and NATON, they are in the process of updating the NEM to reflect the proper crane. In the meantime the guidance we recieved was to come up with a weight test with the correct weights for the stern and beam after getting together with your OINC, ATON officer, Sector ENG officer, and Sector commander. Then perform your rated load test, and dynamic load test. If you have any questions about this feel free to contact me via global and I will be happy to help.
Good catch there! Also, ISC Portsmouth is the subject matter specialist for the 55 ANB crane. They do most all rebuilds and have several in their yard. Perhaps they'll be a good source for anyone looking to see what version they have.
