Hello All,
I am about to take over WEPO soon (or at least start the relief process), and I was wondering if anyone had any additional info/tips for doing the job right, the first time. I have the ordinance manual, BM2 PQGs, and a few other good references/PQSs etc, but I was looking to see if anyone had any custom checklist or additional info they had. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row. Thanks for the help. BM2 Sends |

Do inventories for PLRs yourself, and when you do things like pyro shoots write down the lot numbers for what your going to shoot before you do the shoot.
I made the mistake one time as a new WEPO of trying to figure out what we shot after, and it wasn't terrible but it turned out alot more work for me and the GMs. Not a good start to the first week of the job. Also do a thorough relief. Don't leave any stone unturned. It will only help you. BM2 |

When you conduct your relief use the checklist from the ORD manual. It is one of the enclosures. Pull that checklist out every 6 months and make sure you are still on track. If you do that you will never have a problem. When you conduct PMS use the procedure card every time. If you are ever unsure don't be too proud to call the Sector GM and ask for help. You can even ask him to come to the station and do an inspection just to make sure you aren't missing anything.

This is probably the best advice you will get here, aside from using the checklist(s) in M8000. Sked the GM's to come out the week after you take over to do a courtesy inspection. It will not be held against you or the unit, but will let you know the strong and weak areas of the weps program. The GM's can and will let you know what to change and how to do it. Remember, if you have the program set up exactly like THEY want it, you will do great in THEIR inspections later down the road. |

Wepo is the first stip toward becoming an Officer in Charge. There is a complete checklist to follow, this will give you the insight to run a station someday. OIC's use checklists for STAN Team, Compliance inspections, and many other inspections. Do well and you can expect good things in the future.
And for reference, you need to learn the difference between ordinance (dealing with laws) and ordnance (weapons). I even had this question on my OIC board. Good luck BMCS |

PACAREA has a great WEPO course powerpoint...They use it for the occasional class they hold...If I am not mistaken it should be on their website...Do a intranet search for PACAREA's ordnance section...They have a link there...Or send me you email addy and when I go to work on Monday I will send it to you...
