I have heard from people passing through that the 210's and 270 and 378 are all going to be extended another decade or two in addition to the already out lived time in service. I was wondering if anybody could shed light on why would they send the 378's to Baltimore and what was being done to "extend" the life of these vessels. Are they not expecting the 420's fast enough?
Same thing was done 20+ years ago to extend the life of the 210s and 378s until the "new cutters" come on line.
Same thing over again, now, in 10 - 20 years, you'll sail in 60 year old junk yards
Kind of sad that one of the "armed forces" has its major cutters down to the condition they're supposedly in.
Almost as though a your upper management over the last 20 years has been engineering a transition from an armed service to more of a uniformed service, another government agency.
