Back in the day (1997) I took the BMCS SWE, just to see what it was like. I wrote #4 and dropped to 7 on the list, and made it the following summer. My best of luck to all of you. --Jim Life is good! |

My score and two others are: 99, 106, 112.
The real question is, how many of the 55 that were eligible to take the BMCS servicewide actually took it? I have to think that several BMC's decided not to take the exam for fear of being transferred upon advancement. |

Let me raise the BS flag on that! I'm not picking apart your comment, just the fact that there are some people out there who would do this. I cannot believe someone would turn away from a chance at advancement so that they wouldn't have to move. Especially a Chief. It would be more understandable from a more junior member... just my opinion, though.... |

We shall see. I myself took the exam, but it was a difficult decision. I have been the OinC of the best ANT in the CG for less than a year and the thought of leaving two years early if I make E8 is troubling. With the way the housing market is nation wide, I know there are people who did not take the exam for fear of loosing lots of money if they have to move and sell their homes. 55 were eligible, in my humble opinion less than that actually took the test.

Scored 99 here; hoping my lifer points make up for the test score. Heard of one more at 96. Also, according to the RFMC on another web site, only 44 were eligible, not 55.

44 is better than 55. The RFMC told us at an OinC confernce in mid-March that 55 were eligible. I have not seen it in writing, but the fewer the better for those of us that took the exam. The RFMC aslo made a point that there are around 675 BMCs in the CG and as the last 3 years has shown there are not very many of those BMCs eligible for the E8 SWE. Good time to make E8 but this does not boad well for our rate. At least 500 of those 675 BMCs have meet the TIR requirements for the SWE. Another words we got alot of BMCs out there that need OinC quals, the CPOA, or the EPME test. If you have been a BMC for more than two years and you were not eligible for this SWE, it is time to TURN TOO!

I've also heard of 44 eligible. I'm not sure how many actually took it. Hopefully we'll see profile letters in a month or so. Anyone know what the highest score is?

I am hesitant to take the SWE I am at a great unit and could probably finish out my career. I would like to take the test but my family and peace of mind come first. |
