Heard there may have been a low turn-out for the test today. How many on here took it?

What was your favorite question?
Personnally I liked the one about how many report menus there are under the Reports section on AOPS. <--- who cares.

How about question number 39????? What happened there?

Anyways, I thought it was a good, well rounded XPO test and am patiently awaiting the results.

Yeah, There was very few people taking the test this morning in my area as well.

I have to say... I probably didn't do as well as I feel I did, but I thought it was going to be harder then it was. Atleast I got #39 right!

I think the one question that I had absolutely no clue was who has the authority to frok? I guessed....

Oh yeah, forgot about that frokking question.. <--- had to do it.

A little bird told me it didnt look like a lot of people were qualified, service wide, to take the test due to the E-PME 6 and DWO requirements. Who knows, much better for us though.

One of us was steered wrong about the DWO info as I was corrected by the Rating forces masterchief a while back!! Here's the info off the swe thread on DWO requirements for may swe

I received my PDE and it stated "Qualified" and that was why i contacted psc to verify as i knew i hadn't passed the DWO, i was told it's part of the EPQ and that's why it won't pick it up and the command was to verify your EPQ's prior to sitting for it!! that's waht doesn't make sense to me is all the BM's that haven't completed the EPQ's and don't realize it but acording to psc they will be getting a SWE mailed out. it's nice all our programs are supposed to but don't talk to each other and cause some of the confusion!! thanks for the last remark, i just wish more members had it as well!!

DSRidgeway,

You don't have to be sorry man, we're all human!! i just don't want to see people get into trouble by either not knowing or assuming and it backfiring....

6335,

Who did you talk to at PSC. There seems to be somewhat of a disconnect between what they told you
and what I have been dealing with them for more than a month. The advancement requirements
spreadsheet they sent out the last week of January didn't list the DWO as an advancement
requirement so I called them and they, could list a bunch of names but won't, they know
who they are, and they said the last page, page 17 of the EPQ's was not specifically listed
as advancement requirements because they are not EPQ's, they are competencies.

We TRIED to get them put in the upcoming PERSMAN change but...I'll leave it at that.

PSC stated to me, in writing which is beautiful if someone gets screwed on this, the requirements
have to be SPECIFICALLY LISTED in an ALCOAST OR IN THE PERSMAN. So, we are listing them in
the upcoming ALCOAST announcing the new BM1 and BM2 courses. This will SPECIFICALLY LIST THEM
as advancement requirements but will be effective the date of the ALCOAST.

So, email me at my work email who you talked to.

Thanks,

BM RFMC.

That test was full of crazy questions. AOPS was a hair puller. We dont even use AOPS anymore. Does anyone know how people actually took the test?

What are you using to enter your trips? If not AOPS.

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF ALMIS. They are taking an aviation system and TRYING to conform it to the stations, however i haven't had a whole lot of experience w/ it yet it's really starting to suck as they take most of your budget away from you and send you parts however they don't seend them in a timely manner!!

There were only 3 people at Sector Houston/Galveston. Maybe I'm not remembering the question right but did anyone else notice that w/ 1/2 mile track spacing, the 6th leg of a SS is 1.5 miles long but that wasn't one of the answers? Hopefully they ment how many times the track spacing would it be and the answer was 3.

Well the CG is going to ALMIS in the near future, what the aviation field is using now. Sector Baltimore and also units like San Fran on the west coast are using it too. Trial version now but its goig to take over AOPS later down the road.
Like Coastie bob said..."THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF ALMIS"...take it how you want. Right now there are so many bugs its hard to do anything with it.

I had heard about using the aviation's way of doing things. I was under the impression that it was just for maintenance and parts management, not to replace AOPS.

Thank You for the info.

Sirena1,

We are using it for those reasons too, but we are also using to log underway trips and all currency. Right now there is a bug between AOPS and ALMIS and we ae not getting our night ours logged at all. Its great!!! I have submitted numerous help tickets with no results. And this is what the Coast Guard is going to at some point. As far as I know it will replace AOPS completely at some point. Some aspects are good about ALMIS. Come STAN and RFO, as long as a discrepency is noted in almis, they cant gig you for it. No matter what it is. First year STAN came to our unit they were not happy.

I just don't understand this! I was a coxswain at a station, transferred to a 270, got QMOW qualified, and then got my U/W OOD letter on the same 270. Being a coxswain on the 44 in no way compares to being a QMOW or U/W OOD. There are so many varying levels of responsibility. Does anyone else feel this way?
