I'm a BM3 (about to go on the BM2 list 01 NOV). I have 41' & 25' crew letters, u/w 87 qmow letter, a BTM letter, no financial debt, no dependents, and already medically cleared for overseas deployment. I have a command recommendation. What are the chances (no BS) I'd get orders to PATFORSWA? Thanks.

Get your command to endorse you like it says in the message, then it all depends how many people w/what experience apply. I'm waiting too. looking doubtful here though

Just wondering if you have talked to many people that have been over there, Is the #1 pick reason the ONLY reason your going?

That and the pay would be mine. I have "Heard" of several people leaving with #1 and #2 priority and getting nothing on there list, Have you heard anything like this?
I thought about putting in for it and then talked myself out.

Yes I've spoken to several shipmates that have served overseas, and from what i've heard from all of them it is definitely my cup of tea. I am not in it for the benefits, i am in it for the experience.

Boats:
Make sure you also have weps quals, and your eligible for a secret clearance. With all your quals that you have now, this would be a great opportunity to step up and pursue DWO as well...from what you have so far, you're sitting pretty golden. Best of luck to you.

JMU - go for it, but also consider a bigger boat here at home. You have good skills already, get some big boat time. I am not a big believer in homesteading, so the priority you get for overseas means little to me. Bad attitude on my part from watching too many lunch pails milking a BAH. Hope you get what you want, you appear to have worked hard to get some good quals early on.

I put in for it, too (as a BM2). I've got my DWO test done and I'm nearly completed with my underway OOD letter (on a 179' PB). I'm hoping that and my current EMT qual will bump me to the top of the list. Any idea on when orders should be out for this? Given the report date for PDT is in February, it's going to have to come out before the general duty. Anyone offer a ballpark guess?

I put in for PATFORSWA along with regular billtets. I hopefully make the BM1 cutoff. I have BO 47cox 25 cox all weapons quals, DWO passed, Lifesaver, OTH cox, Investigator Qual and crazy in the head. Just kidding, but what do you think about me making it. I am also tour complete.

Are you all tour complete in 08? That's my biggest issue. I've got a 110' U/W OOD letter, but I just got here in July and the command doesn't want me going anywhere. There's always next year, maybe. -BM2

I put in for Both BM1 and BM2. I just got orders the other day. But if there is anyone that knows the life style there, hook me up. I have an Idea but always want to know more.
