Does anyone have any idea of how many BM1's took the test this year? I had test number 288.

12ft seas/20 kts of wind: 6 hours of u/w time. Although the wind is just 20 knots, the 12 ft seas place it in the Heavy Wx category. Heavy Wx def: Winds; 30 kts or greater; OR continuous wave height greater than 8 feet. Ref: Boat Ops and Training Manual. 7ft seas/20kts: 8 hrs of u/w time.

The SWE exam was right on par with what our knowledge base should be as BMC's. Did you ever her the question "Go ask the BMC"? You are the expert at what you do! Those anchors are heavy and have alot of history with them! The new "BM" forcenotes made a mention to study the EPQ's, and EPM's.

The current surgeon general holds the rank of rear admiral, but he's acting surgeon general right now. The surgeon general position itself is that of a vice admiral.

Can you site your source? I'm not a 1st that took the SWE for Chief, but we've been talking about this question in the office.

According to this site, which is straight from the public health service, it says it's a VADM billet. There is currently a RADM filling it as acting though.

this is my second time taking the SWE- last year was more of a "feeling out" test verses this time around, I studied all sorts of BM knowledge that was nowhere near what was asked. looks like I'll be the ol' BM1 for another year.

I gotta agree with most of you. seemed more like a bm3 test than a bmc test. which should have made it easier, but i didn't study the seamanship manual. oh well, we all toke the same test so, we'll see what happens.

my favorite was...what size cleat for a 1/2 inch line?

I went to the site and I was on the phone with united concordia and they were making me mad. Argue I meant to put vice. Sorry for the confusion. But I did get it right on the exam.

I've missed 14 (for sure) out of 135. This was the first SWE I've taken and I think some of the questions were kind of out there. How much of the paint brush do you put in the paint? Really? What is the SG's rank? Guess the MCPO's have to think of new stuff because everyone keeps putting past SWE questions on BM.net! Knock it off... and all you QM bashers on here need to start learning your honors and ceremonies/navigation or you'll retire as BM1's.

Hey Everyone,

I can think of 74 of the 150 questions....17 of those are EMPE's...if anyone has more can you please reply and maybe we can exchange e-mail addresses...I'd like to get as many as I can.

Also, COMDT Policy for Ops and Pos. checks is every 60 minutes. That chose was not on there so I answered 30 minutes. Anyone have any input. They can not ask you to answer the "closest answer too" on a policy question. there is no gray there....that is black and white. The choices were 10, 15, 30, 45

I'm VERY Anxious about the scores. This is my second time taking the BMC service wide. I think I did pretty well but I do not want to jinx myself so I'm just hoping for the best.
