I have to give a shout out to the BM SWE test writers. They really hit a home run with this SWE. I've taken the BMC SWE before and felt that it was leaning towards the Cutter - Navigation and Piloting world. I’ve been assigned to land units since 1995 and I don’t possess the experience that a BM1 on a Cutter has. Consequently, I studied day and night for several weeks redoing the new EPQ’s. This one seemed to hit the "Bullseye" with me and what I’ve always come to love about my rate. The EPME had really good questions.
Now the madness begins. When are the results coming out? Anyone, anyone??
I'm not sure who wrote this test but I think it was very fair. I think it brought us back to basics. To ask about the parts of a paint brush, now that test writer was an old school BM. I hope you all did well and I look forward to the results.

Yeah, wwwwaaayyyyy back. I mean, please tell me an instance when I'm going to need to tell a Seaman, now this is the handle, and this is the ferrel (sp!). Never, because the BM3/2 will be doing it. And if he doesn't, who cares, it's a paint brush! I felt like I was taking the old Seaman or BM3 test again. Personally, I studied my a$$ off and had about 2 or 3 questions off of the material that I studied. Needless to say, it wasn't what I expected.
I felt like I was taking the SAR Fundamentals test again. I am thinking that we will see a higher average test score then in years past. The best part of the test was no QM questions.
The tests seem to swing too much from cutter to small boat, wish they would find a happy medium. This was information I learned more than eight years ago and have not used for four years. I think I got only 15 questions right based on what I studied. Still a good test but guess I will be staying as a first...thee are a lot of worse things!
Wow! I certainly studied the wrong material after looking back to the past 2 SWE exams, Not shure how knowing what the endurance time for a HH65 is going to help me be a better BMC? or The parts of a Paint brush. At least its back to the basics of Cox, Maint, R&S, Honors etc.. I wrote mid 90's yhe last two years, I will be surprised if I repeat. JM
WOW, after last years exam this one was out there in left field. I was expecting QM stuff like last year. But like TahoeMartin stated how is knowing the info for helos going to help out and I did like the paint brush question. Made you think back when we were youngsters. I totally didn't study the history part. Well I guess I will be a first for another year. Totally studied the wrong stuff. I have to give it to the test writers. I didn't have 1 question on mo boards, galley items or bugeting info.
I have no clue, its been so long since I have logged on I had to create a new account today. Its late on the west coast, I will look up questions in the morning and post, so far I have written out 95 questions I could remember. Cheers, JM
Well I made a 98 last year. So far I am at 92 right, but I am not quite sure on some of them. Looks like first class for another year. I have never been on a 47 so I did not know the answer to that one but I talked with my bud and he said that he put 4 but some of the SD guys said it was 6. I put 4 totally guessed on that one. I did get the 3 30 one wrong. I put 10. I was suprised that I did not get a single mo board question. How many years do you have in? I am at 17 and a half, marks 41.23 and 10 for tir and 8 for award points and 2.5 for sea time. I was a no rate on the ironwood in 91 so that 2 and a half years doesn't count.
