Dear All,
My name is Christain and I recently enlisted in the USCG and I was wondering if i could get info on becoming a Surfman. I am from Cape May and always knew I wanted to be in the CG and when learned of the PSP i knew it was my calling. I leave Aug26th then I start BM A-School Nov.10th. I also enter as an E3 if that helps? Anyway I am 19 full time college student and I work as a part time FF/EMT at night in my hometown, and i also work as a surf rescue lifeguard in the day. I have taken many different types of search and rescue courses and want to stay more on the S&R side in the CG. I go to cape hatteras 4-5 times a year on surf trips and barnegat almost 2times a week so i have seen what the Surfman do and i kno its the job for me. My question is how do i get there? There is no other job in the world other then surfman that i would rather do. what is the competition for a PSP position like? and what can i do to get ahead? Any info would be great, thank you for your help

Make sure you express that you have a great interest in the PSP. You can't really do classes to get you a "hand up" on the competition. Needs of the service. Best of luck and if you have more questions feel free to ask.
