Fellow BM's, I'm trying to update our ribbon display onboard a PB. I've checked the Medals and Awards Manual to find what is acceptable with little joy. Any advise on where I can find this? Thanks.

are you just trying to get new ribbons on the side, or update them with recently awarded citations? you could try to talk to your servicing YN to see what ribbons are applicable. i am on the DILIGENCE and we just got new ribbons a couple of months ago from brace enterprises

Colors and coatings Manual, CH 12.B.14. Any authorized unit awards, such as Battle "E", MUC, etc. Some companies have magnetic aluminum ribbon bars that are great for removal for paint and are more forgiving upon application in the sense that if it's put on crooked it can be adjusted. The magnetics are very strong and can withstand quite a bit of wind/seas.

The magnet ones are very nice but very pricey, I want to say $800.00-$900.00 a side if your PB has the "average" amount of ribbons to display. I just updated ours with the adhesive ones from Brace Enterprise and they look fantastic. But back to your original question check Enclosure 12 of the Medals and Awards Manual. That will list some awards that yur unit is required to display. After that you are just going to have to go through your district's Cutter managaer and get the poc for the ships records, or you can go through the ships archives and see what you come up with. The CO's record of inspection may have some info in there as well. Good luck.

Last I knew PB's (at least the 87s) have aluminum superstructures. Good luck getting magnetic ribbon boards to cling to that! Wink

I redid some superstructure ribbons a few years back. I used a company called Armed Forces Awards. Good product.

Thanks for all the input. I've checked the Coatings and Colors manual, it explains unit awards, however I've yet to find anything stating EXACTLY what ribbons are acceptable. I'm trying to update the entire ribbon display, I'm working with www.armedforcesawards.com, the owner is very profesional and enjoyable to work with. I'll continue to do some research and update postings if I find anything.

Best Regards,
