At the time I was on the flightline at McChord AFB, Tacoma, WA working maintenance supervision.
Many of us did not see the action but fully supported it. Wars and conflicts are not all won in the theater of the battle. Many of us were loading equipment and troops from Fort Lewis onto C-141 cargo jets and C-130 aircraft at McChord AFB and other bases around the country for deployment to Panama. That being said: I just have to say this and get it off my chest. Seems this whold section "wars & conflicts" is geared and designed for the people who have carried a gun, knife,or medic's bag into battle or conflict. It really takes the whole military team to carry out a plan, support it, fight it, and win. I and many others have served during most of the listed wars and conflicts but not in the area of combat. There is a drastic difference between someone who puts their life in danger in direct conflict during a war and a service member who supports the war effort from relative safety. Both are honorable but do not try to compare the two. I doubt anyone who fought in a war (I have fought in Panama, Bosnia and Iraq) ever failed to appreciate those who provided that critical support.
