FYI- For all of us visiting sites where equestrian statues are located: if all 4 of the horse's hooves are on the ground the rider died a natural death. One hoof in the air indicates he died of wounds sustained in action. If 2 hooves are raised, it means the rider was killed on the field of battle.

Printed in the Atlantic Monthly July, 1861
by James Russell Lowell
" It is not the North, but the South, that forever agitates the question of Slavery. The seeming prosperity of the cotton-growing States is based on a great mistake and a great wrong; and it is no wonder thet they are irritable and scent accusation in the very air. It is the stars in their courses that fight against their system.

2. The first major battle fought west of the Mississippi River was in south western Missouri called Wilson's Creek. This would also be the place that the first Union general Nathanial Lyon (was the cause of the St, Louis riots earlier that year)would be killed in battle.

July 21, 1861. First Battle of Bull Run.
A collision between two armed mobs.
About the only think accomplished by the entire event was the naming of Stonewall Jackson.

gun clubs i meet up with are arming for what they think will be some kind of new civil war...brothers, please use the voting and impeaching systems instead.

21st century civil war amounts to "slaughter of the innocents" as one "armed mob" meets our own brothers, afghan/irag urban trained and equipped National Guard and Reserve units.
Godspeed,
Joe

On this date in 1861. In the south Western corner of Missouri is the first large scale battle "Wilsons Creek" Where Gen'l Nathanial Lyon U.S. would be killed on "Bloody Hill" and Gen'l Franz Seagel who had split Lyons forces in half and was cought and distroyed. Seagel would be hiding under a cast off blanket after his command is defeated by Gen'l's Sterling "Pape" Price and Marmaduck. He would sneak back to St, Louis by dark and earned him the stabing moniker from the Dutch troops " I triks mit Seagel, I fites mit Seagel unt I runs mit Seagel. If Gen'l Lyon hadn't allowed Gen'l Seagel to talk him into splitting forces the night before the war in Missouri may well have been differant.

Do tell. Where are all the southern constitutionality issue emotions in present day constitution tramplings? The republicans, by and large, are hiding in closets, and the democrats are giving away the farm and everything else to UN policies. Vote the incumbents out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or watch through tearful eyes as strangers swindle you out of your sons and daughters, houses, homes, communities...all we have strived, fought, bled and died for.

Hey Johnny, what say we put aside our petty 150+year old differences and call a temporary truce to figure out how to impeach these communists that are teamed up with monopolists out of our govenment? These relatively few greedy men and women are threatening all of us with economic devastation with no regard as to what state we happened, whether by chance or divine spark, to be born in.

After living and working in 27 states since 1970, I am witness to the FACT that detrimental animosities are affecting very real present day consequences and in effect have actually eternalized Lincoln's War Between the States.

Today, Oct-Nov. 2009, in War Between the States, we have Insider Newt Gingrich, stepping to the plate as if he is not a turncoat, as if he is not a backstabber and as if he is someone to be trusted by us common folk. But he is another Manchurian candidate, like McCain, to strike out on purpose at Prez. election time on behalf of the his New World Order handlers so the demagogue can beat him.

Johnny, how come things like that don't stick in your crawl yet a score or two Southern Politicians who sold you all out for cash, all day long, in early 1860's rate your undying as well as dying loyalty? Where is the disconnect?

Does anyone think 4th Virginia Cav was fighting for descendants to be railroaded by today's high profile gangsters that would have ALL our heads on silver platters? Secretary of Treasury Paulson, (ex chairman of Goldman Sachs), drew up plans and indeed carried out the robbing of our US Treasury and gave it to Goldman Sachs and other bankster buddies, (who don't have to legally disclose where it went???). However, we know politicians currently in power and in the running are suddenly empowered with tremendous amounts of money from nobody knows where? Isn't there a US Attorney who wants to prosecute this organized crime with RICO ACT before it is blamed, somehow, on you and me Johnny? Probably in the form of some new tax.

Johnny, we do acknowledge all the obvious bravery of your forefathers! That fact is well documented in every historical record of nearly every battle between north and south. The north won battles by bravery born of sheer numbers. Do the children of that courage have bravery to bury the hatchet amongst us present day enlisted folk, for the time being, and join forces against the rascals? To thrust legal efforts and to take aim with LEGAL PROCEEDINGS to rid the culprits who are presently engaged in takeover of the USA, both north and south, whilst those provocateurs again concoct the old "divide and conquer" between us underlings?

Huh?

What does any of this have to do with Today in the War Between the States?

You need to find the appropriate forum to post this drivel.

you think this war is over or something? What state do you live in? I do admit, some states are less aware than others and most folks are not shooting at each other anymore, but deep seated emotions can be more powerful than any mini-ball, especially from the opposite sex.

i am not taking any meds, ha, ha, that is kinda funny, Gumby. I am talking about billy or bobby yank and johnny reb calling a truce here long enough to put our heads together to figure out a legal solution to our houses/property/earnings/constitution being taken away from us by keeping us divided every which-way but loose.

As you say some of these topics are on other websites, however, i feel the affinity with Lincoln's conflict since Southerners still hate us more than you ever hated Vietcong, Nazi's, Commies, Tojo's forces, and probably more than you hate al kaida. That is what part of War-Between-States i am addressing because as long as we stay divided with that ludicrous idiocy, you can kiss your personal family inheritance goodbye in the next few years. And that would have nothing to do with billy-bob yankee that you would rather hate than your real enemies, (still around since 1860's): the bankster/monopolistic/politician control freaks who seek to enslave all of us, one way or another.
