Beverly Robertsom) Despite what some people say Brandy Station was victory for the CSA. The enemy was driven from the field of battle and suffered twice as many casualitites. But yes the training and organization and new talented officers shown brightly for the Union at Brandy Station for the first time.

13 June 1864 Monday-Gen.Richard S Ewell,who had been ailing,was assigned to command the Confederate Department of Richmond.He Replaced Maj. Gen.Robert Ransom Jr,who went to the Department of Western Virginia.
14 June 1864 Tuesday-A federal shell struck Lieut.Gen.Leonidas Polk,bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church and Confederate corps commander,and killed him instantly.

This date has played an important part in my life because, on July 21,1950, I first blinked at the world in the delivery room at St. Rita's, then, Hospital, Lima, Ohio at 2024 Eastern time. It's now St. Rita's Medical Center. Then exactly twenty years later I started my Naval career by checking into NALF Monterey, California, 38 years ago.

27 Dec 1862(Saturday)-Shermans troops picked their way across the swamps and bayous north of Vicksburg.Morgans Confederates captured a Union garrison at Elizabethtown,Kentucky.

Gen'l Lee sent a draft to the confederate congress and Pres, Davis Outlining the enlistment and training and conditions for the inticement of Nigra males to fill out the vacent and near desimated ranks of the Army of Northern Virginia and the Army of Tennessee. Some of these ideas are from a drafted letter to him the spring of 64 from Gen'l Patrick Clayburn.
