Succeeded from military.com?

Did Lincoln keep his oldest son Robert from serving in the Army? He attended Harvard lawe school during the war.

Super Abe!

Ever see the Bugs Bunny cartoon in which Bugs, dressed in a black suit and stovepipe hat and beard, chastises a "Rebel" Yosemite Sam, "What's this I hear about you whipping slaves?" Sam squirms a bit and Bugs hands him a card telling him, "If you need to reach me I'll be at my Gettysberg address."

And the wound was fatal! Still, I thought the Super Hero Lincoln would be worth a comment or two.

I understand Robert Lincoln joined the Army in late 1864 and served as a staff officer for US Grant.

FYI- With the death of Robert Lincoln, the family left no living offspring to carry on the family name. Also, Robert was present for the death of his father, was present during the death of President Garfield, and was present at the death of President McKinley.

Article in today's paper (Washington Post) reported Union Soldier's remains found in construction site in Franklin TN. Found were 6 Eagle buttons, most of skull, several teeth and bones from an arm and a leg. Little chance he will be identified because home state is unknown. Rest Haven Cemetery in Franklin will be final resting place.

The last known survivor of the Civil War was a gentlemen named WALTER WILLIAMS, who died on December 19, 1959 at the age of 117!

I have found, through reliable sources, that this info is incorrect. The last documented Civil War soldier was Albert Woolson, born on 11 fEB 1947 AND DIED ON aUG 2 1956.

I think you were meaning Feb, 1847. Albert Woolson is correct.
