Hello Everybody, I live on a small mountain next to Sweat Mountain in north-east Cobb County (Marietta, GA). I was wondering if anyone knew of any Civil War action that took place on or around Sweat Mountain? It seems like it would have been a likely place for some sort of Civil War event (battle, reconnaissance, ect) as it is comparable in size, height, and location to Kennesaw Mountain. I would really appreciate any information anyone has out there! Brent
Most likely there was some form of action in the area ie skermishing between cav, units who were out in advance or flank guard of the main. If there was any fighting there it was about the same time frame as the battle of Kennesaw Mountian if that was the case then the news would be on the bigger battle and Sweet Mountian would be a side note as a skermish action. Best place to look would be the local and state historical societies. I hope that this points you in the right area. I will endever to look at some of my material if there was any action at Sweet Mountian.
