So I'm firming up my vacation plans and it looks like I'll be able to do 4-5 days in the Shenandoah Valley in mid Oct. I'm looking to see places like Cross Keys, Front Royal, New Market, Staunton and do a day trip back to Lexington to pay my respects to the Generals...
The basic plan is to base myself in Winchester and see all the others via "day trips" or is there a better way? Previous responses to my "Going to Gettysburg on Oct" post were TOTALLY helpful and appreciated....If I may pick y'alls brains one more time I PROMISE to post pics upon return....
Thanks in advance.....

When in Lexington take the carriage tour around town. The sights are great and it is very relaxing. Also at VMI do not forget the Marshall Museum. You might want to have your picture taken with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in front of the VMI dorm.
When you go to the college, walk slowly up the path from the chapel to the chancellor's (president's)house (Lee's) Breath deep and let your feelings reach out, five will get you ten you will feel he's up at the house waiting to see you. Its indescribable.
When I was there, Lee's tomb, in uniform, (General Stuart) the guards let me have time alone with Lee. They didn't let anyone else in.
That made me very happy. Enjoy!
