I have always wonder about this. Cant find any proof that there was.

Hmmm. Maybe. I cant recall specific names, but there were some Europeans who fought for both sides. I seem to recall some were in it more for adventure than for higher ideals.

Anyone in the war more for the adventure than the ideals, I'm sure there were many. But that didn't make them mercenaries, did it?
