My husband is on a 6 year contract, and we wanted to know how long he would have to wait to cross train into SERE? Say he gets out of Tech and doesn't like his job can he cross train into it after say a year or two or does he have to wait till it is time to re-enlist? Also do SERE instructors get to spend a lot of time at home or are they gone a lot?

When a SERE Specialist first starts OJT out of tech school they are TDY 3-4 months out of every year.

One more thing. SERE does not accept overseas cross trainees anymore, so make sure he's stateside or has orders back to CONUS when he puts in his package.
