Hey everybody, I quit PJ indoc during my 3rd week a couple of years ago. It was a terrible mistake, I was just a hopeless A1Cheese back then. With quitting on the record, can I retrain during my retraining window back into pj as a ssgt?
if not, are CCT/TACP still available to me? anybody know of any options or possibilities. I've been training everyday for what I couldn't handle years ago. Thanks!
During Basic I had switched to SERE and after a few weeks of waiting for team to start I QUIT. sucked after it started to set in about my decision so a few years later I used my CAREERS retraining to go back to SERE. this time I made it to the last day and was informed I wouldnt be pressing on with my team to Fairchild. I returned to my job with a mandatory 23 month extention tacked on my enlistment due to retainablitly for retraining which I couldnt get out of and using my CAREERS option and having to wait till after I reenlist and select NCORP. So I would say you can retrain into PJ/CCT/TACP/SERE but it all depends on if you already used your CAREERS option or just did like I did during BMT and than got reclassed.
thanks, but that's not the problem. I'm wondering if I can even be taken back into the PJ program. I'm wondering if i could even be eligible, or if i'm basically banned from it forever. I still have all of my retraining options available to me.

Depends what is in that record as to why you were eliminated from training, which by the way is kept in the data base at HQ AETC for a very long time. The eliminations and cause for elimination is highly monitored and analyzed. It also depends on the needs of the Air Force at the time you become eligible.
The requirement is to train about 120 a year and most of the requirement is for non-prior service. The retrain quotas offered to careers are not very many, certainly less than 20 a year and I wouldn’t bet money on more than 10 a year.

You must have went in after BMT correct? I was giving you the heads up that if you dont make it through you'll go back to your careerfield, have to fullfill an extention to satifsy eligibility, and use your only option for retraining unless you reenlist. So basically the only thing you need to do is submit a retraining request through VMPF and get the ball rolling. AFPC will let you know what you need to do and if your eligible.
Well with all the people that are apply'n to become PJ's these days I know there are people being turned for it. As far as AETC having your record I can't shed any light there, but if they do, that won't help you for CCT/PJ.
Just FYi you don't have to extend till after you are approved to retrain.

Well, since everyone is coming out of the closet, I'll join in the "I quit" club. I quit SST in '05 and it was the worst decision I've ever made, and that's saying a lot cause Ive made a lot of bad ones. Just wanted to chime in and tell you that not only did I quit, but they also made sure I left with some paperwork (long story). Here it is 08 and I have an approved retrain into TACP. I'm not completely convinced I would have been denied SERE if I were not so adamant about wanting to conduct actual combat missions while in the military.
At any rate, will the PJs take you back? Who knows, apply and find out. Does quitting PJs stop you from trying to crosstrain in another career field like TACP? No, I quit SERE and I'll be in TACP tech school this fall.

That's the only way to truly find out. Same with any other retraining option the individual wants to pursue after being reclassified after elimination from PJ training.
