I just got to thinking, is the SERE arch still authorized with the ABU? I have not seen any for sale here at my clothing sales in the ABU colors. I'm sure the beret stays though.
uniform board has yet to determine, but the duty headgear for SERE is their beret which isnt going away any time soon seeing that its only a few years old. As the deadline gets closer when the ABU becomes official than you'll see more guidance come down
When I went through SERE nearly 2 years ago they were wearing the TEST ABU's. They had the barets and the arch still. Just throwing that out there. I can't see that career field just letting those things go.
Wasnt the scroll only authorized at the school itself (At Fairchild)? If command patches are history, unit patches too, I cant see the scroll staying...
I agree with johnny, but don't give up too fast. Organizational ball caps are not authroized with ABU's either, but most red horse guys here at Hurlburt are still wearing them with ABUl's.

they also wear them in most locations in the AOR as well or the red hard hat. Been doing it since Vietnam. You would think it would make for a great target.
I talked to the schoolhouse at Lackland. The ABU is authorized, just make sure you have a complete set. They did'nt seem to like the idea of mixing them.
Did they happen to say wether or not they were allowing the desert boots down there or we have to wear those green ones? I am going down in BDU'S for indoc i think, but i might take ABU'S to SST. What uniform you wearing Scott?
I am excited, i bought this 1918 British .303 and i am going out to the praire today to shoot up some stuff. I got my turkey tags in the mail and it inludes my predator and small game license so i think i have big a** bullet with a cyotes's name on it. Gonna take out my turkey gun and put some shells through it, clean it and then get it ready to bust a turkey. Then i got to thinking, i may be in indoc during turkey season. If so i will designate my tag to the SERE Dude out here and let him bust one for me. i suppose you are training your A** off right now huh!

speaking of game, I remember being down there and I guess the cadre had smoked a nice buck with their truck which luckly had a cattle guard, during the field portion at Bullis. They had us cutting up the meat, and made us a nice venison stew for lunch. That was right before going to the golf course.....
They did not say anything about the desert boots but I would say you can wear them. They are authorized Air Force wide, I dont think they can change that. I just got some sweet boots issued to me for the class, Ive been trying to break em in quick though. I parked my truck on them last night. Im wearing the BDUs because they want us to have a complete set of one type of uniform and two pairs of boots. I looked into buying a complete set of ABUs and boots; I was looking at like 800 bucks! So Ill stick with the bdu. It's gonna suck though for uniform inspections, I guess Ill be the only one having to worry about shiny boots and creases. Those are some sweet guns bro, wish I could be out there shooting. The only thing weve got down here is boar hunting which is fun if you dont get chased up a tree!

I was referring to the law in south dakota. In the state of south dakota if you purchase a big game license and are out of the state during your designated hunting period you can designate another name on the tag to fill it. Since Ken (SERE Dude) loves to hunt and he donates meat to me and vice versa, if he is not TDY to at the time i will designate his name to fill my tag. So therefore no money wasted and he gets to save $20. But some venision at Camp Bullis would be the S*** i like it better than rabbit. But who looks forward to those kind of things in Indoc. Oh and i like Golf to if they let us compliment our game with an 18 pack of budlight.
Scott, I will probably try to get two more sets of the ABU since i already have two sets of desert boots it shouldnt cost me like that. What kind of boots did they get you? You must still have a supply dude in your SQ. I cant seem to get boots to deploy with must less try to get them to go to school. I can get them but not through normal Air Force channels though. Wet those boots and wear them dry that is a quick break. My shoulder is bruised this morning, i put a lot of rounds through that .303 yesterday and now i am mad because they are not cheap rounds. I went out there with the intention to shoot 10 rounds in the rifle just to sight it a little, and then shoot the .22 and 12 gauge a lot. Didnt happen that way though the .303 is a good shoot. i shot a boar with a recurve bow one time and i think this pig still has my arrow. You training? I think i strain my ham a little on my first day back at it so i am watching it on my left leg. I will be back at 100% ASAP. You work tonight?
That sucks about your leg man, hope you heal quick. I am training. I went to do another past test yesterday to make sure Im good for the one on the first day of indoc; the pool was closed though so I just did a run and cals. Think Im gonna go for a bike ride this afternoon to make up for the swimming. Im starting to slow down the training so I dont get hurt before class. Just been sticking to short distance fast runs and cals. Ive got to work tonight so Ill probably sleep for an hour or so and hit the gym at work tonight.

oh you will see the golf course, but it wont be anywhere near the green. there are nice little cesspools and hills to explore.
