"!SERE IS NO LONGER RECRUITING DURING BASIC TRAINING! !THE ONLY WAY IN NOW IS WITH A GUARANTEED CONTRACT FOR SERE!" as said on the gosere website,does this mean that if i dont sign up for sere thru my recruiter i wont be able to take it?...if not well what does that mean?
so if i sign up as a crypto linguist i still may have the chance to do SERE down the road .im just asking because im kind of on a deadline to join the airforce and i dont think im in good enough shape to qualify right now.

Yes you will go through normal retraining channels under CAREERS and either crosstrain halfway through your enlistment for stuff like SERE,PJ,etc or wait till 35-43 months(4yr) or 59-67 months(6 yr) also its a little different if your stationed overseas with your DEROS and all. Get yourself into shape both mentally and physically and get into SERE, In the mean time if your in a deadline for enlistment focus on the tasks ahead(BMT,tech school,5-level,etc) Good luck
If you get qualified as a cryptolinguist, you are not gaurunteed to be allowed to retrain into SERE. There are restrictions with retraining. Make sure you are going into a career field that will be less in demand than SERE if that is your goal. I am not sure that is true with cryptolinguist.
the last time the gosere website was updated was over a year ago.. dont go off of every thing you find on there.. They also say they arnt critical on there.. Which, a year ago they werent, as of the new list that just came out from AFPC, they are.
also, just posted up a new discussion on this but just incase.. GO onto HULU, and look up Survival School.. Watch it. That will give you a VERY detailed look into the school.
