I am currently waiting on an indoc class seat right now, or so i hope. I had my telephone interview with the SERE Dude down at AETC HQ. He didnt tell me straight out that i had been accepted into SERE, but kinda implied it throughout the interview. Any of you SERE Dudes out there Cross-Trainees? If you are could you help me out with what is going to happen next? I was kinda expecting to be waiting on meeting a board like the PJ'S do but i guess SERE doesnt do that. I have been training and prepping for almost a year now, the anticipation is killing me, i dropped my package in November and have just now gotten this far with it. Please educate me on the Air Force retraining process?
I have several friends that crosstrained into SERE and they all had to wait for the INDOC class to start. There was no PreTeam before training started. The process may have changed over time but I would ask SEREOfficer or PanamaRed7 if they know any more. You can also call the guys at the INDOC school house. Their contact info should be on GOSERE.com
Yeah i am well aware of GOSERE. One of my best friends is SERE here at ellsworth. I was asking more along the lines of do any of you know when the MPF here will notify me? i have to extend for 23 months but the problem is i am going on leave for most of the month in february. I dont want my leave to become a problem with my notification and processing my extension. Do any of you guys know approximately how long it takes after your career field manager review?
Oh another question, Do they let Retrainees wear patches or not. I am about to buy some new uniforms and i dont want to sew on my ACC patches if i cant wear them during indoc.
You should be wearing a completely sanatized BDU. Just Rank, USAF, Name and Chest candy (Jump/Dive/Air Assualt etc). You can wear your old Function Badge but it's not required. One of my classmates kept his badge and they made him do an extra set of push-ups everyday for being a cop retrainee. Fine holiday fun for all. I wouldn't wear uniforms with a bunch of torn off patches either.
Sorry I can't help with the Manager Review. INDOC SERE guys might be your best source of that info since they get those calls all the time.
Hey it's good to see someone else retraining. I had a question for you. My package went to the SERE CFM for approval and has come back approved; now I am being told to wait to meet the QRP boards. I am hearing different stories about some people doing phone interviews instead of the boards. If you know something I dont please share, because this whole process is driving me nuts.
My package went to the CFM review, then Msgt. RC Delano the SERE Dude over at AETC HQ gave me a call and we had the telephone interview. The next day i get an email from the Air Force Contact Center saying i had to wait for a QRP. I am now in a 3 status (waiting approval). I am just as confused as you because Sgt. Delano told my that SERE didnt do the boards but now i am meeting one, so who knows. I have gotten really good at waiting throught this process.
Hey Scott do you know when the board met? I think it might have been today, but i am just guessing. It should be the third week this month! i believe on thursday!
I talked to AFPC yesterday morning and they said that it had not met yet. I am guessing either today or sometime next week, but this is the third week. This will be my first board so Im anxious. Ill let you know if I hear anything about when the boards meet.
I am wondering if I am supposed to be doing a phone intervew, I have done the CFM review and am waiting on boards but I have not been contacted by anyone from SERE. Did he contact you at work or home?
He called me at work, because i work nights he left me an email and i called back the next morning. We had about a thirty minute talk and then he said something about forwarding a recommendation on to my MPF. Now i guess i am waitng on the QRP. This one is my first board to so i am anxsious as crap too. They drag these retraining things out. When did you start working on your package? I started the begining of Nov.
Ive been working on my package since this time last year unfortunately. I recieved orders to Yokota in my current AFSC which delayed the retraining. They will not process a retraining Pack. at AFPC if you have a pending assignment. I finally got those cancelled and started retraining again and my package spent about three months getting the CFM review, now I am ready to see a board. This process definately takes forever but it should be worth it.
i had to sit on my package myself because i couldnt submit my package to AFPC. I actually got to send mine up on Nov. 28. Where you stationed at now? what job you retraining from? We might hit the same indoc class! what is your 1.5 run time? Have you done a ruck assesment recently? I got 60lbs 4miles in 51:28. i need to work on my long distance runs though i am only running about 4 miles right now but hope to up that soon.
right now I am a crew chief at Moody. The last time I timed my 1.5M run it was 9:25 I think, it was on my PT test. I am opposite from you, I am good on distance runs but my short fast ones need improvement. I did a 4 mile 60lb. ruck last weekend and did about the same, I think it was 48 min. or so. That would be sweet if we were to get the same indoc! The best workout tool I have found is a book at clothing sales. It is the elite air force workout, it is geared toward getting in shape for PJ/CCT so I figured the closer I am to those waypoints, the better Ill be for sere. Also see if your base has a marathon or triathlon team; Ive trained with those guys and they had some great pointers for improving run times. What base are you at? Keep me posted whenever you hear anything and Ill do the same. are you first term or career? From what Ive been told the career airmen get the first slots. I am first term, they have told me it may take until the third board to get accepted.
I am at ellsworth, but i am from alabama. Matter of a fact i am coming down that way next weekend. i am not running my 1.5 that fast yet. I got 10:28 on my last one. I have been training with a guy that is trying to go be a PJ. I havent found anyone else at this base that wants to be SERE except for the SERE Dudes themselves. I am a first term airman, but we were looking on the career advisor the other night and there are 15 slots for first termers this year. Maybe we will fill 2 of them. Did you get any word on the QRP this week. I emailed the contact center and asked them if i made the board this month or not. I should have that answer next week. Do you do any water training to help with your run time? I made a 2500 Meter swim in 48 minutes recently. Are you married? I am going to be living in base housing at fairchild if i get that far.
Thats a pretty good time for the 2500m swim. I really need to work on my swimming. Instead of swimming Ive been doing alot of cycling but it's still not the same thing. I am married, my wife will probably stay down here until the house sells and then were going to get base housing at Fairchild. Still no word on the QRP board but if they didnt meet this past week, Im sure this week they will.
How far is Moody from Columbus or LaGrange? I went out and ran a 3 mile in 22:30, it kinda hurt though. I got to work on my running! I havent heard back from the contact center yet, probably be on monday. Did you just call them directly? Have you talked to any SERE Dudes yet about your package. I think that they do a telephone interview if they think you might make it but arent to sure. Like my package showed i had gotten in trouble before so they gave a call to see what was up. If you got through the CFM without a call you should be a shew-in, They told me that after you get through the QRP then the Indoc guys give you a call to set up your class date.
Moody is about ten miles from the florida border, so at least two hours from columbus or la grange. I think Im going to email the indoc guys through gosere.com, they usually seem to give better answers than AFPC. Ive talked to the SERE guys at moody but they both came in the air force as SERE so they dont know too much about the retraining process. At the latest the boards will meet this week, usually if you call AFPC directly they will tell you what day it meets. Thats a good run time, fortunately the two mile run at indoc doesnt have much of a time limit from what Ive heard, as lond as its under 18min.
I just got an email back from the Contact Center and they said i missed the Jan. Board. What day does the Vmpf say your package cleared the CFM review. I want to do SERE really bad but this waiting game is starting to piss me off.
I am on hold with AFPC right now, trying to see if I made the board. Youre always better off calling them, thier email answers are usually pretty bad. I know it's a tedious process but it will be worth it man. The biggest problem I have been having with theprocess is that I begin to get bored with my training, it seems like Ive been doing it so long you know. Give them a call and see whay you didnt make the board. My package was completed from the CFM Jan 18 and I was told I'd make the board.
