So I went down to San Antonio last week to do a 30 day past test and got my first awakening.... I performed bad and the test was given a little differently... Just thgought I would see if and one else was given the test the sime way by their recruiter? When administered in SA they will not let you stop performing and excercise. Ex: When doing your pull ups you may not drop from the bar until after your minute is up. Now from how it was given to me by my recruiter it was time limit or muscle failure. Which to him meant I could drop off the bar and or sit up from sit ups or push ups. Just curios if you were allowed to drop or stop the excersize or if they made you hang on the bar or just hold the rest position? Not that it matters just explains why they have half of the recruits failing the past on day one. 2 different test one maybe one guy can past and get to SA and take a little different test and not.

check out special tactics.com PAST test section. Basically your to hold onto the bar with every thing you have for 1 min or hold rest position in both push ups(2min) and situps(2 min) untill the time is up, otherwise it is a fail and failure of the entire PAST. When I took a PAST for SERE it meant hang onto the bar like you were holding onto a cliff edge about to plunge into oblivion. Smile Tell your recruiter to not try to read into the directions, and get yourself ready for another go around this time knocking it out of the box. Wink

If you are reporting to Pararescue Indoc course after BMT, don't forget you will be taking the PAST on the first day of the course.

The PAST info found at Specialtactics dot com was updated 15 September 2009. PAST info there is specific to the Physical Ability and Stamina Test (PAST) used to qualify individuals for AFSC's 1C2X1, Combat Control (CCT), 1T2X1, Pararescue (PJ) and 1W0X02 Special Operations Weather (SOWT). The major change is there is no longer a there is not a points system any longer; all events have a minimum passing score, except the underwaters which are pass/fail.

Please note: (1) The initial PAST must be administered by PJ/CCT/SOWT personnel, or a certified administrator at or above the Flight Chief level; (2) that prior to administering the PAST the applicant must pass a MEPS physical. The MEPS physical requirement will not be substituted by a school sports physical or any other non-MEPS physical; and, (3) This test also applies to Air Force Crosstrainees, Prior Service, and Cross-Service personnel.

Be advised the SERE PAST differs from the PAST used to qualify individuals for AFSC's 1C2X1, Combat Control (CCT), 1T2X1, Pararescue (PJ) and 1W0X02 Special Operations Weather (SOWT).

NOTE: The PAST requirements are designed to test for a minimum fitness level for entry into the CCT/PJ/SOWT training pipeline. This is why a second PAST is administered to all PJ/CCT/SOWT recruits no later than (NLT) 10 and no earlier than (NET) 20 calendar days prior to their EAD date. If an applicant fails their initial PAST they cannot re-test for 30 days and if they fail their second PAST they must be cancelled immediately and cannot be re-tested and reserved again for at least 30 calendar days.

Pertinent to the Pararescue Indoc Course—the PJ recruit will have to pass the PAST the first day of indoc...if you fail that PAST, you're eliminated. Most recent statistics are ...roughly 43% of GTEP enlistees fail that first day PAST and are eliminated...typically, somewhere around 5 individuals self-eliminated without even finishing the PAST!!

Pararescue has the Indoc course where water confidence and other physically demanding and stressful training objectives must be successfully completed.
