Okay, you've iced enough.

Standard first aid is RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

The initial icing is to minimize swelling. You've done all of that that is reasonable to do. Keep your foot elevated as much as possible--hip level is fine--to help swelling go down.

Rest is self-explanatory. Stay off of it as much as you can.

Compression: An Ace bandage or some other type of compression bandage wil also encourage swelling to subside.

You can also apply heat. A heating pad, 30 minutes three or four times a day will help speed healing and--again--encourage swelling to subside.

Was it a tissue injury, or a joint injury? If a joint injury, try taking Alleve. If tissue damage, take aspirin to help relieve inflammation.

Thanks for the tips Major! I have been taking care of it and think i will be able to run again by monday if i take it easy turkey hunting this weekend. I dont think i broke it, so i am probably good to go. The swelling has went down considerably and tylenol is taking care of the pain just fine. I am not sure if it was tissue damage or joint damage. I cant figure out what i did to it, just know i got finished wrestling around with the kids and the dog and boom pain in the foot!

Glad to help.

Uhhhh..... You DO realize that the "R" stands for REST, right??? I'm not sure where turkey hunting falls in the spectrum of "resting." Roll Eyes

But, yeah--those gobblers have been real active around here for the past week or so. I've had to stop a couple of times to let 'em cross the road.

Well i had one weekend to try and go and we had a blizzard. This is my last weekend to go or else my tags run out on me. I gots to bust me one by sunday or i wasted 25 bucks to the man. I may just have to rest in a field while waiting to bust a gobbler. They havent been real active yet, had a rough winter this year.

Go to the doctor and have it looked at. If it is busted, it needs to heal. Regardless, it is better to find out what is wrong now at home station, instead of trying to push it too hard at indoc with a unknown problem and wash back/out.
