Of course the letter gets here on a Saturday so I can't call or go in to the TSC.
For some reason, they changed the PCM for one of my children (perhaps a letter for each of the others is coming as well?) to a different PCM that is 45-50 minutes from my house???? Seriously, the MTF is closer - its about 35 min away from my house and much more direct. I would think if they were going to arbitrarily change his PCM they would stick him with the MTF peds clinic. His "old" PCM is still in the Tricare Network and is 7 minutes from our house. This is so weird. I was there just this past week getting him his flu shots and it was past the date of when Tricare decided to change him to the new PCM (they made it effective 10/9 but did not date the letter til 10/15 and I did not get it til today, 10/24). This is going to be a pita because now I bet the claim for the shots will bounce back to the drs office. Does anyone have any idea why they would do this? I am going to have to wait til Mon or Tues to go to the TSC to talk to someone. They are usually really nice and helpful there and I hope this can get rectified. I'm just baffled. This is even weirder than a few mos ago when they told me I could switch PCMs because I live more than 30 min from base (but I have lived at this address for 3 yrs so why give me the option now?). Sometimes I wonder if they just like to shake things up to keep us all on our toes or something. Editing to add: I just got on to the tricare site and discovered they changed ALL of my kids to this pediatrician I have never heard of way up in a remote corner of the city. So bizarre.... Both doctors in my (old) peds office are on the tricare network as PCMs so I just can't see why they did this. Cannot wait to go to the TSC and talk to a human being face to face to sort this out. are you certain that the old doc did not drop as a Tricare Participating Provider? many have in recenet years.
just accepting Tricare is not enough.. they must be a Particiapting Provider. |

Well she is still listed on the online network provider listings as of today as a PCM and I was in the office on Tues and made an appt for January for another one of my kids, so I think she should still be one. But that's where thinking gets me, you know.
I thought maybe she dropped Tricare like you have suggested and that is what happened but no one in the office seemed to have an issue with the insurance when I was there for shots and making the Jan appt. The new ped in the office has joined the network as well (back in July she was not a Tricare network provider yet). They file my claims for me - they accept the measley amount tricare pays for the service without any extra charges to me.... She is retiring in about 18 mos so I thought maybe she told them no new patients but she is still on the site as accepting new patients. I guess I should stop trying to figure it all out and just wait til I can talk to the TSC. I am so curious to find out what is going on. |

heres a suggestion-go on line and change it back.when they did this to us (my son had a civilian PCM in boulder because he goes to school there but hes still on tri care prime cause hes is with in 50 miles of the clinic at Buckley AFB)for some reason Tri_west change him to the same one as mine in the family practic clinic at Evan ACH on ft carson i just went online and changed his back-they let it stand no problem. the only reason they could give me for the change is they thought the assignment in boulder was a mistake.

I did not know I could go online and change it back. I will have to get back on the site and see how to do that. Thanks.
editing to add: I just changed all 4 kids back to their original PCM. Thank you so much for suggesting that. I also was able to go in and fix some bad personal information (they had our residential address correct but our mailing address was still the base post office where you get your mail sent temporarily during a PCS). I wonder if for some reason the mailing address being on base did something to trigger the change. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mmt4, |

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. |
When we were on Tricare Prime Remote they did that to me. They changed my PCM, and I got a letter. I called to find out why and they really couldnt give me an answer. I just put in a request to change back to my regular PCM and they granted it. It was so strange! It was not fun because for a whole month I wasnt able to see my regular PCM while the change was going through.
