My deepest apologies to all of you who have been posting about tubal reversals. I made an error this morning and the original thread is now gone.

Yeah Trixi, I'm so terribly sorry about this. Frown
There's apparently no way to recover a deleted thread. I don't know what happened, all I can surmise is that there are 2 buttons right next to each other and I hit the wrong one....

Hi ladies. It's been a while since I have been on. I finally got my appointment for the naval hospital in San Deigo. I am so excited. We are on our way. They say the waiting list for the actual surgery is about 1 year to 1 and 1/2 years long. It will be well worth the wait in the end. Good luck to all of you who are trying and hang in there.

Is that the only way to get a reversal (to go through those few bases?) I had my tubes tied about 5 months and after doing some reading on here, my symptoms fit that post tubal ligation syndrome. They are really bad. We just PCSed so I am waiting on an appt with a new GYN.

So does tricare cover the cost of the tubal reversal? What out of pocket costs are there if any?

Thanks

Tricare doesn't cover the cost of the surgery its covered by the individual MTF.Tricare doesn't cover it that is why you have to have the surgery at the particular bases.
I hope this information helps you.I am still waiting for my appointment but have a positive look on it.I wish all of you best of luck!

Well I went in for my consult at Travis yesterday. After waiting almost 3 months for the appointment I can say it was worth the wait. All the staff was GREAT! Well as long as all the tests come back good we have our surgery January 18 2008! Yeah! We were shocked and stunned! I found out also that if for some reason there isnt enough tube or not active enough sperm or you dont get pregnant within the first year and have tubal blockage they can give you a referral for one of the four MTF that do IVF. IVF if done at one of the four MTF's is covered you just have to pay for travel, food and lodging and the hormone shots to increase production of Eggs.Estimated cost for that is about $4,000.If I remember correctly the four MTF'S that do it is San Diego Naval,Lackland,Army Base in Tacoma Washington (cant remember the name) and Walter Reed.I hope this information is helpful.Dont get discouraged! I had my doubts but its all coming together.I will continue to keep you posted on the progress.
Good Luck!

So if I am understanding you correctly, you are going to Travis but you are not stationed there. Is that right? We live in Ms. and there are no bases near us to have the procedure done. So we are going to have to fly to whereever we have it done. Smile We had at once thought of using a the TR doctor in Mexico off of the blessed arrows website.

Yes I am getting my surgery done at Travis and no were not stationed there but were about 2 hours away. That is the closest Mtf that does the surgery but its where you get anything major done ie: Mri's,wisdom teeth removal, our base Beale doesn't have anything much just a clinic. My base doctor at Beale told me that if Travis didn't do it I would have to remove myself from Beale clinic and go down to San Diego register as a resident(with an address) and sign myself at there base clinic to get my surgery done there.I am not sure what the closest mtf is for you for the surgery but it may be something that you can look into.I could save you A LOT of money in the long run.At least it couldn't hurt to look into it.I sure wish you the best of luck.
