MODERATOR Military Life, Spouses & Community If you want something said ask a Man; but if you want something done, ask a Woman! Margaret Thatcher ![]() |
with Tricare there is 2 "packages"
Standard is where you go to an approved civilian provider/clinic/hospital and have a yearly deductible and co-pay for each visit. If you need something done and it is approved then it is done, covered, except for your co-pay. Prime is where you go to a MTF (Military Treatment Facility) and are assigned a PCM (Primary Care Manager). There is no cost to you and if you need something done it is done. There could be a small fee for meals of like $12 a day at some locations. Your Military ID card and the last 4 digits of his SSN are what you need. With Standard if he has just started then you can get away with just the last 4 because you don't have your ID card. If you go with Prime you can get a Tricare Card in the mail to show. You can't change to Prime via the phone. You will have to go to the closest Tricare office or fax in the paperwork. Go to the website to find the closest one. Because it is now after the 20th, Prime coverage will not start until the 1st of October. |

unless prime remote. You can get all the forms on line and mail them in on your own for prime, no office needed (just helps get them counted faster if it's close to the 20th). I have no idea where the closest Office is to me. Guessing Leavenworth, but I've never been there. depending on the procedure, it may not be covered. |
