My hubby is looking to have a reversal and I just want to know if anyone knows of any military hospitals that perform these surgeries?
he has to start with his PCM and get the ball rolling on the referral. not every hopsitaldoes it and the waiting list can be quite long. if ther eis not alocal one you may have to foot the ENTIRE bill for travel and lodging during the procedure. and of course use chargeable leave as this will not be a nmedically necessary procedure.
We had a vasectomy a few years ago because financially we couldn't afford anymore children. Our situation has changed and we would like to have at least one more. We were told by Tricare that they DO NOT cover a vasectomy reversal. Don't let that deter you though because if you go down to the Urology department of a base hospital (Ft. Gordon, Georgia does it) they will schedule you for one. Luckily we were already there for another reason, since we are stationed in Ft. Jackson, SC the drive is kinda long, the doctor we were there to see originally put in a referral for us as a courtesy without us ever having to see our primary care physician!!! We had our consultation and surgery appointment in less than 3 weeks, and since it was being performed in a military hospital Tricare never factored into it and our charge was ZERO.
