I THINK CONGRESS NEEDS TO TAKE AN ACTIVE PART IN BEGINNING TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE.

IN MY OPINION, IF WE DO NOT GET ON A SPECIFIC PLAN TO DEFEND OURSELVES, AS WELL AS BEGINING TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE GROWING THREAT TO OUR VERY EXISTENCE, WE WILL SLOWLY SLIDE TO A DEFENSIVE AND FETAL POSITION.

I have to agree with Dave. Close the borders, inspect the containers, and make America as safe as possible first. Develope an energy policy and explore alternate sources of energy to become more self sufficent. Strictly enforce the immigration laws on the books and put some teeth in the penalties.
I don't think genocide is the answer. Of course, I realise that both of you probably have your tongues firmly in your cheeks, but I have to admit that the idea does have some appeal for me. But that does not fit in with our traditional values and I think we need to move back to the values that made this country great in the first place.
I'm not that good at expressing my feelings so I think I'll go back to my corner and hunker down and weather the storm.

On other topics, I have posted my economic thoughts of being independent of needing goods and products from our enemies. A few examples: oil from the Middle East, the purchase of steel from the orient. The purchase of electronics from the orient.
Our politicians are so self serving and along with those who are "profit only oriented" have sold our security for dividends on their stock shares. Look at the steel industry. As far as the United States is concerned, it is shut down within our borders. Look at the computer industry, it has moved to the orient.
When the real all out World War III starts, do any of you think China will sell us steel to make tanks? Rifles? Bomb casings? What makes you think our foreign made computers are not programed to shut down when the first Chinese missle is fired at us? Do you really believe the enemy will allow the super tankers of oil go across the oceans?
Normally I attempt to subdue my passions, when I am not dealing with disabled vetern issues; however it is getting more difficult as each day goes by and I watch two political parties do nothing to protect us. Repeat nothing!

Dave, heck of a point with that post, so what to do now and the future? We've been outsourcing almost everthing, except the food we grow. Yet, POTUS on his recent visit to FLA pronounced how well we are in exporting goods. Yet at the same time I pick up the paper and read how the country of Bolivia received over 500 tractors made in China. This equipment was further donated by the president of that country to assist it in being more productive in its farming needs.

We all seem to recoginze our shortcomings as an industrialized nation, yet we are gradually getting to point of making progress to regain slightly some of what we've lost. Not significant, but a feeble start. We've regressed due to the high cost of maintaining enviormental standards, and the expected requirement of doing business (profits). Now the obstacle of those producing widgets in the U.S has experienced a competitor producing and exporting the same widgets yet they are counterfiet. This makes it more difficult for those in U.S. to stay in business.

It is currious, that the trade agreement we have with China may not be fair & balanced.

Pushing a defensive agenda is reactive behavior. Not something you do to counter an aggressive foe. You would be struck again, before any steps were taken.
