On another thread Torch said "Afghanistan was never under control.......combatants haven't laid down arms".....Very true! Indeed such has been the case since Oh.... about the time of Alexander The Great. Yes sir the Afgan savages have been fighting one another for thousands of years and that will not end soon.

However, much progress has been made since the most recent tyrants the Taliban were in charge. NATO is big time involved and looks like they are going to stay if for know other reason than to shove it up Bush's azz....This ain't Iraq, see?.......I'll bet our guys get OBL this year.

Come on Ron, if NATO led troops can capture OBL, while Bush couldn't, what do you think their intent will be?

SOCOM / CJSOTF will get OBL. My son will be in Afgan this fall and will take care of it then. He is dertermed because during his last "visit" with th 22MEU the Army would not let them operate in the boarder area. Lighten up on Steve. There's a difference in someone living sports through their kids, because they weren't any good. There's PRIDE in a father/veteran watching his son, who's not only living his dream, but excelling. My dad made MSGT in 9-1/2 years and yet, when he saw me as a Lieutenant, you could see his PRIDE was greater than anything he had accomplished. I know what that feeling is like and I'm glad Steve has that opportunity!

It's coming up on April and our SOCOM/Afghan teams will be able to push into the Kush...it's the only thing that rhymed ...so to speak. With the UACV support and the melting snows, they'll be able to work deeper into terrorist territory and launch some missiles, hopefully into Pakistani areas, as well.

Ron......Torch is the research expert. I belive we have about 18,000 troops total in Afghan app. 1000 Marines. A lot of ARMY special op guys.

SO, A FORCE THIS SIZE HAS HELD THE LINE, AND CONTINUES THE SEARCH.

THEN WHY WOULD WE SEND MORE INTO AFGAN WHEN WE ARE SHORT IN IRAQ?

No plans to send more. I fact current plans call for reducing our forces this year with some increase in NATO forces.

It isn't that US troops are holding "the line". That's not the case at all. The Afghan military, unlike Arabs in general, are almost to full compliment in most of the country. Our SOCOM is running joint task with Afghan elite unites in ESE country, along the Paki border.

I envy you both , for having had that sort of a family relationship , Steve between he and his Son , and you between yourself and your Father , and Ron between he and his Daughter and Son .

My " Bone " to pick with Steve , was not about those relationships , or the fact that he is a proud Father , of his Son's service to his country........not at all ......
