Here's what puzzles me. My two Marine uncles, who were over there and one of them almost died from the severity of his injuries, have never acted in the way I witness you guys act about the slightest thing. Whether it's off color, questionable, or innocent, it's warped into an illogical response by people on this forum.
Their thought has always been to act like a duck in water, accept some information as being valid, learning not to read too much into anything, and understand the unknowing, unBTDT, whatever, may be ignorant, but not intentionally mean spirited. The gist of the Time's article was to attack the problem, just like we attacked battles in WWII. It's not shadowy. There's no underlying intent on anyone's part to besmirch the Corps or anyone's gallant fight in the battle. I think it has turned into a "Tempest in a Teapot". Let it go, before you blow an artery. I don't see how it could get any worse than it is in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Maybe you need to reevaluate your statement. You seem to be missing a lot of poverty, that hasn't changed in 30 years, no matter how much is given by the West. And why does terrorism occur? If it's home grown, against repressive governments, guess what? It's not terrorism. There have been several puppet governments propped up by the US in the name of our form of democracy, that doesn't exist, can't, and never will.
