Violin, if the gulf stream is not factored, or possibly mentioned Whisper, IS THEIR A change!?. During the past decade and half it has been the same old story, but with snazzy latino phrases. Occasionaly global warming Eek is part of the context, yet we juz don't get it Roll Eyes, too bad too sad Violin. this ain't the drought and sand storm the okies withstood during the depression years of the '30s, nor the nostigila of the Steinbeck & O'Neil era. This my friend & neighbor is a contuial change of lifestyle and itz juz ajustment.

The WX people DID mention the GULF stream also and it's moving up, trapping warm, mild air between it and the Jet Stream, in my part of the Country, as well as in several other parts. Big Grin

Global warming my azz, it's supposedly due to El Nino'.

NO, I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANY SORT OF CONSPIRACY WITH WEATHER PERSONNEL. BIG INDUSTRY AND WORLD GOVERNMENTS(MAJOR POLLUTERS), YES! I JUST THINK IT'S A LOAD OF CRAP TO THINK EL NINO IS AFFECTING ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE CALIFORNIA/MEXICAN CLIMATE.

80 degrees and sunny in Florida. A bit above average and there is not one single polar bear around here.

Guess Global Warming is already here?

IN FLORIDA OR WHERE YOU LIVE? Confused THERE'S POLAR BEARS IN FLORIDA ZOOS/WILDLIFE PARKS. Wink

ONE QUICK NOTE ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING AND THE LOSS OF POLAR BEARS:
I WOULD GLADLY/PROUDLY TAKE TWO THIRDS OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET, INCLUDING EVERYONE, WHO DOESN'T GIVE A RAT'S AZZ WHETHER THEY LIVE OR DIE, AND FEED THEM TO THE BEARS, TO KEEP THEM ALIVE UNTIL THE CLIMATE IN THE ARCTIC REGION STOPS THAWING THE GLACIERS AND THE PERMAFROST. IT MIGHT TAKE AWHILE, SO THAT MIGHT BE ENOUGH HUMANS TO SUSTAIN THEM. SOMETHING ON THE LINE OF SOYLENT GREEN, BUT KEEP THEM ALIVE, INSTEAD OF GRINDING THEM UP INTO MEAL. BEARS LIKE FRESH MEAT. Big Grin

We're warm because of the warm air streaming north off the Gulf of Mexico. Made possible becauce, for whatever reason, the jet stream has not dipped south very far this year. Who knows why?

Frankly, it is fine with me. When I was 8-9-10 the cold weather, sledding, and so on were great fun. These days, it is torture. Warm is fine by me.

John, the reports from my brother in yer neck of the woods, is unusual. He has fished the waterways of Manasquan, PT Pleasant Inlet, Baranaget Bay, Metedoconk, and the deep water off the coast. There has been a noticable difference in the migaration , habitat and abundance of fish in those areas. Something not known of for some time.

My other brother has expressed the same in the keys and the gulf. It is not known of the experience of having such an abundance of various types of fish not known to migrate or habitat as this past year.

Gulf stream has been predicatable for decades, yet this year the existance or more accuartely the absence is speculated to have have contributed to the identification of various transient fish. But, we failed to heed to the signs of beaching of sea mammals for the past 3 decades. imho this year the gulf stream has been diverted or replaced.

Jeez, I cannot believe seeing all those names, which I'm so familiar with! Cool It's as if YOU live down the road! Beer

One of my "estranged" Sisters has lived on the lagoon off the Metedoconk River (bay). Their lot is 50 x 100 and they paid $2500 for it in the early 60's. Their ranch-type home, with a large addition for a rec room, plus an in-ground pool, is worth about $500,000, which they originally paid $14,500 for in 1963. Eek

In the late 80's, the same sized, vacant lot next door to them was finally sold for $150,000! The new owners erected a large home on it and their patio set consists of 44 pieces! I say again...44 pieces! They also have one of them thar' hot tubs too.

Here's where they live, but it's not the EXACT pos, but close:

Brick, NJ (formerly known as Bricktown)

The Point Pleasant inlet is actually called the Manasquan inlet, with Manasquan on the North side and Pt. Pleasant on the South side. I always called it the P/P inlet, until I was corrected around 25 times, about it's true name.

Since I do not visit nor speak to her, I'm unaware of any fish movement in her area.

Regarding the Gulf Stream, WX maps indicate that it's sort of stalled in an unusual pattern and location in the central part of the SE of the Country. While the Jet Stream is in the upper part of the Country, preventing cold air to drift down to the South, thus, when precipitation comes by, it's in the form of rain and not snow. Big Grin

WINTRY WEATHER PREDICTIONS ARE SUPPOSE TO KICK IN AROUND THE 15TH. SO FAR, IT SEEMS LIKE WE SHOULD BE ABOUT 350 MILES SOUTH OF WHERE WE ARE. IT KILLS THE WINTER SPIRIT, BUT I GUESS WITH MY GAS/ELECTRIC BILL LOOKING MORE LIKE SPRING OR FALL, I'M NOT GOING TO COMPLAIN TOO BAD. POWER COMPANY HAS DECIDED TO PUT IN A NEW RATE DECREASE AGAIN. WOOHOO! Clapping
