See that is why I suck at fixing things. Big Grin

I didnt even think of that, I will do that as soon as possible. I wonder if it will fix itself? Big Grin

Thanks for that. Its mostly an inconvience right now. She just started a job that requires her to drive and she dont like the speedometer not working, but last night she said it was working fine.

Stupid cars. Big Grin

If it were a bad fuse, it would not function at all. Intermitent operation often means that the "juice" is getting past the fuse ok. Many electrical problems are because of poor electrical contacts. Corrosion, not completely plugged together sections of the wiring loome , anr the most usual problems. ,

I think Peter has it nailed on this one. I have a similar problem with the instument panel lights in my 97 Dakota. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The rest of the dash lights work just fine. Sometimes, if you jiggle the correct wire loom just right, the lights will come back on. It is almost impossible to get to anything behind the instrument cluster from the bottom and so far, it is not worth taking out the whole dash to try and find the bad connection. Oh well, I just keep a small flashlight on the consol.

Thanks guys, I couldnt find anything about a self dianostic, but honestly she didnt have time to let me look to long before she had to go somewhere. I will research it more tonight.

Okay I will check the battery, if possible run the self dianostic, and what?

Are any of the cables or wires accessible from under the Hood?

Thanks guys.

There are, unfortunately, plenty of them under the hood. Ones going thru the dash and at least one wire (for the tachometer) will go to the ignition and another will prolly branch off to the transmission (for the speedometer). CAREFULLY, unplugging and replugging may help fix the electrical fault. Be very careful, as these have little catches and often rubber boots (to keep the contacts clean and dry) that can and will be damaged by brute force.

Great, my two biggest weaknesses, mechanics and electrical stuff. Big Grin

I think it would be easier to just buy another car. Roll Eyes Big Grin

Thanks guys, I just hope I dont mess it up. I am not good with that stuff. I can do basic stuff, but man, I hate it.

I regret not watching my dad work on cars when I was younger. Now I pay for it everytime something goes wrong, if I had payed attention most of this stuff would be a cake walk. Mad Big Grin

There is a flaw in early 1990-91 jeeps like mine. The crankshafp position senser sometimes forgets the position and the car's then "dead', won't start, period. It is more than $500 to fix, $475.00 labor and a $25 elecrtical part. rATHER THAN CHANGE IT, All you do is unplug the senser, then plug it back in and everything's fine , could be days, could be months, until the next time.

BUT, MY JEEP HAS 265,000 MILES ON IT. It has been hit three times by others. The front end has NEVER gone out of allingment since new. The plugs last almost 40,000 miles as do the tires. No points, ever, same starter, same waterpump, same engine, same EFI pump, same trans., steering box, etc..

yES, THEY ARE BETTER NOW THAT THEY WERE.

My jeep never made a point in its life, but I never played polo with it.
Japan GP this am. Alonzo won. Shoemacher was leading nicely with 12 laps to go when the Ferrari wert BANG then it did not run anymore. Alonzo is 10 points in the lead for the championship. Michael has to WIN the last event in order to win the Championship. That will goive him 10 points for the win, PLUS 10 points for the most wins this year. If Alonzo finishes second, he'll get 8 points thus. it is Michael by 2 points. Anything else, and Alonzo is Champion again.

Otherwise an uneventful race. Not much wheel to wheel after the 4th lap.

Who do you think is madder, JR, or Johnson?

I bet Vickers is gonna get an earfull today.

I think Johnson would have made it around and won too, he had a great jump and was doing it. I know Vickers was trying to draft with Jimmy, but he got to anxious, but man, that was not good.

I did like the big one, took our Biffle though, I sure thought he made it through and then the guy just slid up in front of him.

Pretty good race I thought, at least for a restrictor plate, dont like them, they should let them run with out it.

At least Dale Jarrett got another good finish. Kind of courios about next year with the new team and all.

What do you think of Martin leaving Roush and joining the others?

Okay, check the car, couldnt find anything lose, no dianostic on it to run. I guess I am looking at 4 or 5 hundred dollars to fix it. I may just get her another car. Since her new nursing job is home health and has to drive alot.

Any recommendations for a good car that will do good being driven all day everyday?

THanks.

I heard he is going limited season. Many teams do not like that. There is NO substitute for time on the track, none, nada, and the more you get the more CURRENTLY competent/competitive you become. At today's level of driving, the "convenience" of being a "part time" driver is just not in the cards for some teams.

I watcked that wreck live, ther played and replayed. It was a three part error. Had Jr. not moved down the track, no wreck. Had the passing car not have been forced to turn down more than planned, nbo contack with car three, no wreck. But what happened happened and all three know wqhat part they played and why. So except for kicking the cat, it is pretty much over. Not the same as taking the "air" off the back end on the last lap, or using the "chrome horn" in the final turn to wreck the leader.

Yeah, thats kind of what I saw after watching several more replays of it.

Bet Vickers hides out for a few days though. Big Grin

I need to go check the results, I still dont know where they all finished at?

Hey, I stayed at a Holiday Inn once, only once though, the next morning, I thought I was a doctor. Big Grin

Drove her car some this weekend, it was stuck when we left the house at 60 while parked. Got to the next stop sign, it went back to 0, and has worked fine since. WHACKY.... Big Grin

If she didnt have so much Nursing supplies to carry with her, I would get her a Scooter. Big Grin

Another dissapointing finish last night for Jeff Gordon. Engine went BANG with just a few laps to go. Ah well, after last night he's just along for the ride. The race did harken to "times of old" as by the final lap there were 20 or so cars off the race course. Start 43, finish 23 or fewer was the way in the "old days".
