I've been going to the parade in our small town for a few years now. Every year, the number of WWII vets gets smaller and smaller. But there are still some, even though they are in their 80s, who will put on their old uniforms and strut their stuff!

Gotta love em.

Strange, though...not a lot of Post-Korea age vets.

BECAUSE OF LEE ANNE, IT IS A SOBERING TIME FOR US.

I REMEMBER AS A YOUNG BOY THIS WAS CALLED DECORATION DAY...

IT WAS A FAMILY REUNION OF SORTS...WE MET AT THE THREE CEMETARIES WHERE OUR FALLEN WERE BURIED VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND PLACED FLOWERS AND THEN PRAYED...

THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY AN ALL-DAY PICNIC WITH GAMES AND STORIES...ENDING IN A FINAL PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING FOR ALL THE GIFTS OF LIFE IN AMERICA...

I TREASURE THESE MEMORIES.

My friend my thoughts are often with you...We have shared similar losses. Memorial day brings back all the memories of both our Lost Vets and our lost family members...They still continue to live in our hearts....God Bless..

For Memorial day:

TAPS

The words of TAPS:

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

Moment of silence and or prayer....

I don't think of any of my friends or relatives were lost while serving in the military.

Still, I get bummed thinking about those who have been lost and the families who had to find the stregnth to go on without them.

Thankyou to all of those who gave their lives defending our freedom and the freedom of those in other countries.
