I know the general time limit is 6 years reserve duty to qualify for a VA loan or 180 days active duty. Does Active Duty for Training such as AIT count for the 180 days active duty if it exceeds 180 days, or does ADT not count? Specifically this would be the time spent at the DLI.

Members of the Reserves and National Guard who are not otherwise eligible for loan guaranty benefits are eligible upon completion of 6 years service in the Reserves or Guard. The applicant must have received an Honorable discharge from such service unless he or she is either

• in an inactive status awaiting final discharge, or
• still serving in the Reserves or Guard.

Thanks. So there is no exception to the six year wait if you do the 180 active duty?
