I have not been able to find any real information on the availability of a Jumbo VA mortgage. I live in the greater Chicago area and 417k does not buy that much home here unfortunately. Are these so called Jumbo VA loans available? I can put 10% down. As I understand it, the Jumbo VA program requires one to have a down payment of 25% of the value that exceeds 417k, which would be no problem for me.

With money to put down, you should have absolutely no issue securing a VA jumbo loan. Almost every VA lender I am aware of does these. Contact me via my profile and I will get you someone who can take care of your needs.
