My husband and I are both verterns. We are planning on buying a house in about 2 years but i'm doing reseach and making sure i have everything in order. I was wondering do we need 2 Certificates of Eligibility or just 1.

I was also wondering since neither of our credit is any good does having a down payment help with getting approved for a VA loan? We are hoping to have a $10,000 down payment on a house in 2 years and hopfully straighen up or credit but if it's not "straightened enought" will having a down payment help? Thanks

Take the $10,000 and straighten up the credit. A down payment would be looked at as a compensationg factor, plus you'd have a lower monthly payment, but if you can't qualify because of your credit then it doesn't matter one way or the other. If either of you receive any VA Disability then use that Certificate of Eligibility, otherwise it doesn't make a difference.
