i was wondering what the possibilities of 2 disabled veterans getting a VA loan would be. I have poor credit, due to a previous divorce. the last time i ran my report last year, my score was 526. my fiancee' has ok credit, but is having difficulty with bills as he was medically retired from the marine corps, and currently rated at 90% disabled. we can't pay all the bills he had before being discharged, so subsiquently we have filled disability claims with the accounts that have coverage, the others we are doing our best on. we don't plan to look into buying for at least 12-18 months. we live in las vegas and plan to stay around here. we both recieve disability (me 70% him currently 90% but waiting for TBI claim for 100%) and as soon as we recieve the retro for the 100% we will be paying off all the debts. how hard is it to get a VA loan and what other things can we do to help insure an easy process for this? i know fixing credit isn't easy, but i pay my rent on time, as well as my utilities and such. we just have had to close the CC accounts and strugle with the stuff we could afford before the medical discharge and loss of 1500.00 in pay. any info would be great! thanks

Once you have those things paid off you can probably qualify. You must not have had any late payments on rent or your utilities for the last 2 years. If you can show that then you should qualify.

well i have paid rent since 2004 i believe, while i was on AD. do we just need a letter from our current landlord or will it show on our credit reports? and how long should we have all the accounts paid for? what kind of impact will it have if we cant pay them all off? thanks

It would be a pretty big negative impact. A letter from your landlord would be all that's needed to show your rental history.
