RE: http://tech.military.com/equipment/view/89060/meu-(soc)...tol.html?eq_id=89060

how many rounds does the SOC model hold? under the picture of the Marine shooting, theres a short commentary. how many Marines are carrying an MP-5 as thier primary weapon? this is a MARSOC weapon. or Marine boarding party weapons.

The MEU(SOC) is made in Quantico, VA by the Marine Corps. They are not Kimber pistols. The frames of many of them were original 1940s era 1911s. They just have the functioning parts replaced as necessary.

Now, the armory was busy also building sniper rifles, designated marksman rifles, and other high quality weapons when the Marine Corps joined SOCOM and they could not produce enough MEU(SOC) pistols so they ordered custom pistols from Kimber. That is the ICQB pistol.

I think Army special forces and maybe even airborne get them. Personally, Ive fired an M14 and all sorts of M16s before. I much prefer the M16. The M14 has very old ergonomics and the only reason it has any value over the M16 is its caliber, which really isnt THAT much of an improvement because I can get so many more rounds out accurately with a 5.56mm. Now, with that high speed EBR kit its probably pretty cool, but otherwise the M14 is just too unwieldly.
